The truth to this is that each florist's pricing will be influenced by a number of different things; the design, the fluctuating price of flowers, the number of varieties included, hourly rate, expertise, helpers, profit expectation, travel, breakage etc. The reality is the florist is running a business and they will have a unique formula to support them to work out their pricing. That is why you won't get a set price when enquiring about your wedding florals. Wedding flowers can feel expensive but when you take all these elements into consideration and not base the comparison on a supermarket bouquet, the budget looks to be more considered. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The reality is also you generally get what you pay for. If you enquire with a florist who has a very popular distinct style, they have had a lot of training and spent hours perfecting their craft to produce the most sensational arrangements. That training and practise is also part of the cost and will have to be reflected in your budget. By the time they get in touch, the date has usually been decided. For some this may have been chosen based on the availability of their venue. Often school teachers pick a date that falls in school holidays. My husband and I chose the anniversary of our first date as our wedding date so we only celebrate one anniversary. each year. While there may be a few considerations when choosing the date you marry, very probably you may not have considered how your chosen date may affect your wedding flowers. Looking at the meaning of flowers to include in your own bouquet would be a lovely way to start your own family tradition. Holding something in your hand that has a depth of meaning to it can feel so special and add more emotion and personalisation to your day. I know several of our brides are including very specific flowers in their bouquets and arrangements as a link to a lost loved one, or have decided to have a similar style to their own parent’s wedding choice. Such a lovely way to honour those who went before us and to start those traditions in your own family. In Victorian times, the language of flowers, or ‘Floriography’, became very popular.
