2 years ago today I was in Morgantown WV on a pain medication drip after I had to undergo emergency surgery and have a temporary ostomy placed. Since then the Ostomy has become permanent. I look at this day as a lot of trauma that was blurred by the meds and really didn’t see much of a chance at a normal life. It was apparent I would have to figure out something to work around my schedule 2 years later I’m taking May 6th back and announcing that I will be starting a business working around the trade of upholstery and sewing. Town Hill Mountain in Western Maryland has always been a staple of my childhood. My dad taught me how to forage and hunt on its steep slopes, and I've spent countless hours walking its ridgeline, under the dense canopy of trees. When I saw this new-to-me view of Town Hill rising above some Redbud trees last spring, I knew I had to get a good photo of it. After some planning, I was able to get this shot at sunrise on a recent spring morning! Capturing photos of places so near and dear to my heart has been such a rewarding experience. My happy place 🥰 This right here is where my profession doesn’t feel like a “job” but where I’m allowed to create art in the form of hair. When I clean up my station at the end of my day, I think of all the laughs I have with the people in this chair, the stories they share, and heartfelt moments we have. Most times we have lots of fun and spend our time catching up, and sometimes I’m told that this is their first thing they’re doing for theirselves in a long time since becoming a mom or they had a big life event that hasn’t had them feeling 100% in a while. Maybe they just need some quiet time aside from their busy lives. I cherish what I do because it’s not just hair, it’s elevating peoples confidence and making them feel incredible by the time they walk out the door. I’m thankful for every interaction I have with them, whether you’re here to tell me all the new updates of life or just to chill. City of Cumberland Lead Service Line Survey The City of Cumberland needs the community’s help to complete an inventory of all private water service line pipes connected to the public water system. Check your home or business for the type of service line pipe. Then please complete the City’s online Lead Service Line Survey to inform us of the material of the water service line coming into your property. The City has provided information on how and where to check your service line material on the City’s website. To prepare for the survey you will need a flashlight, a magnet, a coin and a cell phone or tablet capable of taking a picture to upload to the survey to the internet. You will need to first locate your service line in the basement or crawl space. Follow the helpful steps shown on the City’s website to determine the pipe material. Take a photograph of the service line and attach it to the survey, and click submit. Why does the City of Cumberland need information about the water service pipe material in my home? The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) first established a lead and copper rule in 1991 to help reduce exposure and associated health effects from lead in drinking water. EPA revised the rule in 2021, requiring action by water service providers across the country. By 2024, all water utilities are required to determine where lead pipes exist in their systems, including the pipes on the customer side that connect to the public system. The City of Cumberland has an inventory of our underground public infrastructure, which helps us manage maintenance and prioritization of repair and replacement of pipes. We need the cooperation of our customers to help us complete the inventory, showing all private side connections and pipe materials. The information provided will help the City meet these new regulatory requirements. Press Release The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of Columbia Gas of Maryland, would like to notify the public that the intersection of George Street & Baltimore Street will be closed to thru traffic on April 19th to April 20th until 5pm. Columbia Gas crews will stop work on April 19th at 9pm, and resume work on April 20th at 7am. The intersection will remain closed until Saturday, April 20th at 5pm. A detour will be in place to direct vehicles around the site, during the temporary closing. These 13 projects fall under one of three categories: Facilities/Infrastructure, Admin/Planning, and Public Services for a total of $800,000; the estimated award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. If the actual award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is less than or more than the estimated amount, the contingency plan is to subtract or add those funds as appropriate to the total award for the Parks and Recreation Improvements project identified below.
