Today is my first day back at work in almost 14 months. It’s sounds like such a long time, but it doesn’t feel like it all. I’m so awash with emotions, so here’s a photo of me out for brunch on Friday when I was still firmly burying my head in the sand. I wore this dress I got from @neverfullydressed - I love all the colours and it served me so well throughout my pregnancy. Our little Noodle turned one on Sunday. I won’t lie…. I’ve been a complete mess about it. My heart aches. It’s a good ache, but still. It’s such a privilege watching them grow, but at the same time you just want to pause it all. I can’t believe it’s been a whole year. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long. Scare-parelli is the final prompt for the oh-so fun #highfashionhalloween with today's host @fayedelanty I am all out of lobsters 🦞 so went with what has been an overabundance in the garden this year - wasps - to recreate this look. Based my look on Shiaparelli's 1937 printed silk organza and synthetic horsehair Woman's Dinner Dress. Her's was a collaborative effort with Salvador Dali. See Pic 6 for a side by side with Wallis Simpson 1937 in this original dress. I hope you know who she was. The lobster dress has reappeared often in the 21st C. The original is on display at The Philadelphia Museum of Art; gifted in 1969 by the fabulous Mme Elsa Schiaparelli herself. My dress is a lovely chiffon thrifted a few weeks ago for $5.
