1: WHAT YOU LOVE ABOUT JAPAN Ik doe mee aan de #japanuary challenge van @cakeswithfaces. Zo kan ik jullie deze maand lekker veel oude foto’s van Japan laten zien in verschillende thema’s. Enjoy! Ik hou van Japan om heel veel redenen. In deze post focus ik op de Japanse patronen en symbolen waar ik zo enorm van hou! Ik vind het geweldig om traditionele Japanse patronen te herkennen als ik in Japan ben. Je komt ze overal tegen. In het straatbeeld, in traditionele ryokans of op tegeltjes aan de muur. Het seigaiha golfpatroon met boogjes, het asanoha ‘ster’ patroon, het shibori patroon wat ontstaat door de stof te knopen en daarna te verven… En de symbolen die ook weer allemaal een betekenis hebben, zoals de kraanvogel en schildpad die geluk brengen, fantastisch toch! Die voor mij herkenbare patronen en symbolen zoek ik ook als ik Japanse stoffen selecteer om voor jullie tassen en accessoires van te maken. 🥰 Ik heb in 2019 een kimono/yukata fotoshoot gedaan in Kyoto en wat was het voor mij lastig om toen een keuze te maken uit al die mooie kleding met kleurrijke patronen! 👘 In Kyoto gingen we al tijdens onze eerste reis naar het Nishijin textile center. I keep thinking about this view! I darted up this lane frequently when I was staying nearby, and the pagoda and higashiyama always took my breath away! Maiko hurriedly came out of restaurants and climbed into taxis as I walked the lane at night. Cut through a little side lane and you're near Rokuhara - Rokuhara! The Kiyomori stronghold that features so much in The Tale of the Heike! And it was lovely to walk through the lanes around Kiyomizudera and Nene no Michi in the quiet early mornings.
