All'epoca questa vettura costava 630$. #hotrod #gasser #willys #willysamericar #willysamericar1941 #americargasser #modelcar #modelcarpassion #modelcarsofinstagram #oldamericancars #americandream #instagood #picoftheday

Custom '41 Willys Americar. Hang on, isn't it called the Willys Coupe? Well, it's a colloquial name I believe, but we'll use the official name here. Now about the real car. The Americar was a line of compact automobiles produced in Toledo, Ohio by Willys-Overland from 1937 to 1942; these were made in sedan, coupe, station wagon and pickup body styles. (technically, the name "Americar" only applies to the '41 and '42 Willys models, but because this is a '41 Willys, it applies here) the car was developed under the presidency of Joseph Frazer (later of Kaiser-Frazer) and engineered by Barney Roos. The cars were named the "Americar" for patriotic reasons, (the cars were originally known as the Model 37, 38, 39 and 40 based on their production year) and were produced with said name from 1941 to 1942, at which point production stopped due to World War II. As war broke out, Willys-Overland was awarded a contract to produce the MB Jeep. After the war, the company secured the trademark for the Jeep name; however, the high sales of the CJ (the civilian version of the MB Jeep) effectively prevented the firm from resurrecting any prewar models, effectively making the Americar dead. After the war, the Americar became a popular candidate for hot rod ding, as demonstrated in this model. A total of about 22,000 were produced in 1941. I bought this loose from a collector for a low price, and as such it is not in the best condition, as evidenced by the paint chips and rusting axles; doesn't affect me though. #hotwheels #hotwheelssg #custom41willyscoupe #willyscoupe #41willys #custom41willys #willysamericar #willysamericar1941 #americar #1941willys #1941willyscoupe #hotrod
