Sometimes you find gems in the strangest places! Even though this is profile dedicated to 70s and 80s cars, I often do exceptions when something like this crosses my path. In the mid do late #50s #bmw was struggling financially. It sold luxury coupes in small numbers and the economical #bmwisetta in big numbers but small profit. This might come as a surprise for many but at the time BMW sold cheaper cars. After trying a 4 seat #isetta version without success another idea came to mind. In 59 up to 65 they sold this amazing small #bmw700 available in 2 door sedan, coupe like the one I caught here and cabrio. It rear engine, #rwd with a small 700 cc twin flat engine it developed 32 to 40ps according to the carburettor fitted and it was a #bmwmotorrad engine. It used the Isetta suspensions with solutions that lived on in BMW until the 80s. It was known by great build quality and chassis. Being sold even in the USA the small coupe designed by #michelotti saved BMW. With more than 180 thousand sold, it paved the way for the models to come. It’s nice chassis made it great for use in motorsport where it achieved success in it’s category. Today, Primrose and I took a trip to Massey's Folly in the village of Farringdon, Hampshire. This structure was built during a 30-year period (1870-1900) by the Rev. T H Massey (rector for 62 years), with the help of 2 or 3 craftsmen. It is locally known as Massey's Folly, a name which parallels the very unusual design; although its intended (but unachieved) function remains obscure, the building was taken over in 1925, and later modified for use as a village hall and school.
