Being immersed in a barn full of flowers is something that I always forget how much I've missed. Seasonality is such a beautiful, necessary, and sometimes difficult reality of this business! I wouldn't appreciate this abundance without its absence this time of year. Keeping up the high production volume of late spring, summer, and fall wouldn't be sustainable year round. It's nice to slow down in the winter. That said, this time of year, I miss who I am when elbow deep in blooms, and my daily rhythms are set to natural rhythms of the outdoors. Is it utterly exhausting at times? Do I welcome a killing frost at the end of every season and then look back and think, did we really do all that? Do I want to pull my hair out, pouring over endless seeding charts, planning succession plantings and trying to make sense of the finances of running a busines? Do I learn to live with the nagging pressure of always feeling beind? Yes, yes and yes! I might be biased but I think trusty neddy can rock the agricultural look with the best of them 🤣 Paid a quick visit today, and we had a short lunge and a bit of cuddle time, and it was lovely! As evidenced by the poorly filmed clip here, she is still just the same old trusty neddy even after 7 months off. I forgot my lunge whip and lived to regret it, as I was getting very clear "I don't want to trot today" signals 🤣 Bless her heart though, she is just so laid back and calm about everything, I can't wait to get back on board after what I saw today, even if it is just to wander round at a walk for a good while.
