The opposite leaves of the erect semi-succulent herb Peperomia (Peperomia blanda var. floribunda). This species can be found growing on rocks or tree trunks in rainforests, notophyll vineforests and sclerophyll forests from New South Wales to Queensland. P. floribunda can grow to a height of 30 cm. The erect stems eventually grow parallel to the ground (decumbent) and a dense distribution of trichomes are present along the stems. Trichomes are small stem appendages that serve multiple important functions including protecting against herbivore attacks and synthesising metabolites. The leaves are petiolate (have a leaf stalk) and are 3 cm long. This species prefers full shade and thus would be suitable to plant in the latter stages of restoration.
