How do we define the impact of trauma? How we define pain? How do we define heartbreak and grief? And how do I prove to someone how deeply I’m hurting?
Well I’m here to say you shouldn’t have to prove your pain to anyone. The grief of watching your child navigate a world that wasn’t designed for them is devastating - over and over. I’ll never get used to watching my child suffer through medical procedures or try to communicate his needs and be constantly misunderstood.
We don’t need to compare who has it worse, that won’t take away either of our pain. I’m here to say I see your heartbreak and grief. I see your child’s suffering and the inequitable circumstances for disabled people - and it’s unfair.
