Balance is more than just standing on one leg; it involves numerous muscles working together. Here are the key muscle groups to focus on for better balance: 🔥 Ankle and Foot Muscles, Calf and Shins Small muscles in your feet and around your ankles are constantly working to maintain balance. These include the peroneal muscles, tibialis anterior, and the calf muscles. 1. Ankle circle – 10x both directions 2. Heel to toe raises – 20x 3. Heel/knee walks – 6x 🔥 Glutes and Hamstrings Your glutes (gluteus maximus, medius, and minimus) and hamstrings are crucial for stability and movement control. I’ve had clients come in saying they’re “fine” and their body feels “fine” UNTIL THEY STARTED MOVING AND THEN… Either they’d feel pain in places they forgot to mention or didn’t feel comfortable speaking about in the group or… They weren’t aware of how their body was feeling because they’re busy with everything else doing everything for everyone else and no time to feel and “climb” in their body… Giving clients the workout is planned ahead of time was either hit or miss because there was no way to predict how they’d be feeling on the day and in the moment… And no way of knowing how much they were aware of about how their body was feeling so… When I started reading what their body was telling me and the physical, emotional and energetic story was in front of me in the way they move, breathe, speak and place their body this showed me the full picture of what they need and gave me full insight into the most precise and accurate session for them at the time in the moment every moment. ✖️KNEE STRENGTHENING + standing balance work ✨ I have been doing this series with my clients lately and I wanted to share with you! The focus is knee strengthening through standing hip activation + hip flexor endurance + dynamic stretching/strength. Using the wood dowel for an assist with balance as well as feedback during rotation. 🔑 TIPS : keep your hips over your knees during the tracking exercise (slide 3). Try not to push the carriage with the weight of your body. Only add rotation once you’re comfortable with the movement. During slide 4, don’t focus on a straight front leg. You’re working through the knee joint with strength not snap! As always listen to your body. What is the Body Story Method? It’s a methodology, developed over 25 years of working with clients, for reading the physical, emotional and and energetic story every body is telling us which can inform what we do with them and how we work with them. How it works: We can think of the body as a metaphor. What happens inside of us is mirrored in the physical. What happens physically also influences how we feel internally, and I don’t just mean if we have an injury we might feel a bit more tired than usual. If we sit on a wobbly chair, we are more likely to feel unstable internally or uncertain and struggle to make decisions with confidence or even be distrusting. If we hold a warm cup of coffee we tend to feel more warmly towards the people around us in that moment. If we curled ourselves up to hide in a small space in a game of hide n seek, and decided to assess our lives or career choices in that moment, we would be more likely to feel restricted. Why it's important: It gives us an accurate insight into what is actually happening for a person, beyond what they say. So often it is what is outside of their awareness, what they’re NOT noticing, that is problematic. With this method we can observe what they can’t yet, and work with them holistically. Giving them a personalised approach, giving them exactly what they need, when they need it and creating transformations that transcend the physical, allowing new options and possibilities to open up for them across all contexts of life.
