I could actually keep it as my main technique if I spent time on it. However, the desire and search to try new things and create some kind of blend is more dominant. Because of i dont practice ever and only draw when i'm going to post, makes my improvement of drawings quite slow. Charles Bridge (2024) Media: Prismacolor and Faber-Castell Polychromos Colored Pencils Time: ~25hrs. I apologize for being somewhat negligent in my posting of drawings lately. A combination of lack of time to work on projects and a dearth of artworks that I’ve really been that enthusiastic to do left me unproductive for a while. Even this drawing of the famous Charles Bridge in Prague, while based on a cool image, was difficult and time-consuming to do (as all architectural pieces are for me) and didn’t quite come out as dark as I’d have liked. While not my favorite, it’s still interesting. The viewpoint of looking across the bridge with all the statues looming ominously against the indigo sky of evening is one that certainly attracted me. All the pieces in this series were made with charcoal during the winter. Normally I get really sad about the cold & lessened sunlight in winter but working on this series was a way for me to cope with the changing seasons & face my fears about change. This drawing shows the last light of day--what I call "the witching hour"--peaking through clouds & the skeleton of a pecan tree. The west mesa over-looking the valley where I live is seen in the bottom quarter of the image.
