Another toilet paper roll craft!! Before the kids arrived, I used the hot glue gun to make their birds. Each bird is a tube, squished in opposite directions and glued at each end. One end is rounded a bit and the scrap is used as a beak. The kids decorated their birds. We used craft sticks colored brown as branches and green scrap paper as leaves. The kids placed everything where they wanted it, and we glued it all down. ( I did end up pulling out the glue gun to attach the bird. ) We added our verse at the bottom- and it was pretty darn cute! And this book was just perfect for our noisy joyful bunch! 𝒜𝓁𝓅𝒽𝒶𝒷𝑒𝓉 𝐹𝓊𝓃! 🤩 I found this cute magnet toy at Toys R Us to help Lala practice matching uppercase and lowercase letters. To make it more fun, I hid the lowercase ones under some rice for her to find & also work on fine motor skills. 🤭 She raced to finish the whole set in under 5 minutes - yay, good job Lala!! I’m so glad she had the interest to try. ☺️

A new technique for us but we will definitely do it again! Abe colored all over a sheet of aluminum foil with his markers. He then sprayed it with water. Definitely his favorite part! I drew the outline of a butterfly on a white sheet of paper. We carefully placed the butterfly face down on the wet foil and smoothed it out. When we pulled it up, we had a beautiful colorful butterfly! Dinosaur rescue Mayor Humdinger had stuck all the dinosaurs down, the paw patrol needed their help to cut the dinosaurs free. (We are really into paw patrol and dinosaurs, we are working on our scissor skills) First, they decided they needed to get their capes (coloured scarves) to become mighty pups. Then they got straight to the rescuing. They enjoyed this so much we had to do it a few times, on our last go I added extra masking tape to make it that little bit more challenging. What I love is they also reused some of the masking tape to try and stick the dinosaurs down so they could keep doing it. Tulip Math We played some math addition with tulips! I used brown sea vegetables for earthworms. They cut petals for making ice cream. 𝒫𝑒𝓇𝓈𝑜𝓃𝒶𝓁 𝒮𝒽𝒶𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 Tonight was the first time Lala and I drew our family portrait together. At first she wanted to draw a little person with baba and mama. I thought that little person must be Lala. So we had this convo: 👩🏻: Where’s Noah? 👧🏻: This one is Noah, already grow up 👩🏻: Aww, then where’s Lala? 👧🏻: Still in mama’s tummy 🥹 👩🏻: Are you sure you don’t wanna be in the picture? 👧🏻: Ok, mama holding me, a very small small baby, just come back from the hospital. 🥹 Lala has curly curly hair. *aww she wants to be just like Noah* Through this picture, I felt like I understood so much more about her feelings. Although she gets quite jealous of Noah, but she still loves him a lot as he’s the first one we drew & he’s even holding a pink ice cream (her fav)! 🤭 But she just wants to be the baby of the family with me holding her close, I guess longing for a sense of attachment and security. 🥹 I’m so glad we drew this fam portrait together bc otherwise I don’t think she would have told me her feelings with words. 🫂 On a side note, this is so interesting to me bc recently I took a short course on Art Therapy. Rainy day window painting Thanks for the window paint recipe @abcdeelearning It was a great hit in our house. It’s pouring with rain and constant thunderstorms today. But the kids were able to go out on the balcony and paint the windows. Fairy forest 🧚 🌳 Being inspired by our book “Forest Fairies” , we set up this simple tray using some coloured rice and wooden toys to create a magical fairy forest scene. How does this type of play help children to develop emotional intelligence and coping skills? While children are playing they are using their imaginations , which encourages creative thinking. And it’s creative thinking that allows us to come up with solutions to our challenges in every day life… being able to think up different ideas and creatively solve problems. I sometimes try to encourage this while my girls are playing by asking them “challenge questions”… asking them “what if” scenarios that their characters need to try to solve… “what if the fairies need to get to other side of the forest , and they can’t use their wings?” Encouraging them to creatively problem solve and to come up with creative solutions in their play helps them to develop those essential coping skills, improving their resilience and helping them learn to cope with change. 🌈 Rainbow Sand Art 🌈 Do you have a kiddo who loves getting crafty? (ad/gifted) Mottaqi wanted to do his rainbow sand art this weekend, so set up a tuff tray all on his own! It was really easy peeling the stickers off and decorating the different sections with the sand. Didn't he do well? I love the different colours and designs of each. Swishy swashy grass We needed to use our scissors to cut the grass. Great way to encourage some scissor skills and lots of fun. Abe loved this dice game that was suggested by @_teacherpolly . Basically it’s War but with dice. Roll, say your number and decide whose number is larger. He loved when we got the same number!
