A massive congratulations to @savvy_o93 for smashing it at the NSW Championship Trifecta!!๐ Savannah absolute killed it despite the crazy circumstances she was in. She missed her flight so didn't fly out of Perth until 12am and arrived in Sydney for 6am. After sitting on the plane for 4+ hours she then had to drive straight to the event with no sleep. She ended up missing her first 10km race, but she still ran, and managed to finish 1st in her age category as well as the 5km to follow!! If you looked up the definition of "lifestyle change" you would find a photo of Sarah beside it ๐ช๐คฉ Sarah joined our Club in February 2023 after her search for a coach to help her achieve her health and fitness goals led her to Laura, our own Personal Trainer. Upon commencing PT sessions Sarah gained confidence in her abilities, and to say she ran with it would be an understatement! Happy 70th Birthday to our member Gaye ๐๐๐ Gaye is one of our Club's inaugural members, and also one of our most consistent. If anyone has told you age is not a barrier to fitness, but you have doubts, then Gaye will quash those doubts! Initially starting a training regime to manage an osteoporosis diagnosis, Gaye has now made it a lifestyle. She has maintained her strength and cardio training over the years, even throughout setbacks. After foot surgery in 2013 she was so keen to get back to her routine that she returned to the gym - on crutches - to train only upper body until her doctor gave her the all clear to return to full training. During 2020 Gaye completed the 123km Cape to Cape Walk Track along WA's southern coast over 7 days. This consists of bush tracks, rocks, 9km beaches, creek crossings, sand dunes and steep steps. A great achievement at any age, but to complete it in her mid 60's is testament to the benefits of keeping up a gym training program. Last year Gaye, her daughter Lisa (also one of our long term members) and our Club Manager / PT Laura completed the Matagarup Bridge Zip+Climb. This is a steep 72m stair climb above the Swan River that finishes with a 400m zipline back down to the ground. After this experience, Laura can vouch for how fit Gaye is, and also fearless! ๐ The team at AF High Wycombe wish you the happiest of birthdays and a fantastic year ahead. We look forward to seeing what adventures and achievements come next for you. 70 years young! ๐

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT ๐ Looking for some inspo to start or continue your fitness journey in 2024? Meet Toby, one of our most dedicated, hardworking members whose transformation speaks volumes for the results that can be achieved with the right mindset and support. Toby began his weight loss journey in 2020, losing 30kg over 2 years with a self-guided overhaul of his lifestyle. After a personal life upheaval in late 2021 resulting in "6 months of chaos" Toby realised that if he wanted to progress he would need support so he found an online coach who understood what he needed and offered the tools to achieve it. With the combination of the right coach, joining a supportive community of like-minded people and learning how to avoid negative self-talk Toby had lost a very impressive 93kg by June 2023. Fast forward to now and he has - through consistency, self-forgiveness and seeking support - achieved a truly incredible 101kg weight loss ๐ฃ๐ฅ Citing actor @ethansuplee as his inspiration, Toby also credits the support and friendship of our own fitness community in helping maintain his consistency whilst building his knowledge and increasing his momentum and intent.
