Kenji Tohira 15 February 1941 – 25 April 2024 I was very sorry to hear the news of Tohira-san’s passing yesterday. One of my most recent posts happened to be about the influence of his and his LIMIT team’s engineering in the JGTC. But as many others have drawn attention to since his passing, he leaves an important legacy. A legacy which will be kept alive by @tohira_official and those he inspired On a personal note he will always be especially remembered by myself as the seasoned Nissan works driver who took on the 24 hours of Spa in 1990 in the ZEXEL nr.56, sister car to my nr.55, where together with his codrivers he gave NISMO and the Nissan Skyline GT-R the historic Gr.N 1-2-3 sweep on their first try at this most prestigious race, considered the ”Le Mans of touring cars” Thank you Tohira-san, you will be remembered

A lot of time and paint to make this modelcar a nice collector's piece. O conselho de administração do Circuito de Spa-Francorchamps compartilhou seus planos futuros em uma coletiva de imprensa. De acordo com os planos, serão realizadas grandes obras de melhoria da pista e de infraestrutura nos próximos cinco anos. Uma nova camada de asfalto será colocada em um determinado trecho da pista para proporcionar maior aderência. Além disso, a direção também planeja mudar o propósito da pista de rallycross. Ela tem sido usada para corridas do Mundial (WRX) desde 2019, mas o campeonato mudou para a pista de Mettet este ano. A intenção é transformar a pista em uma área para torcedores. Além disso, a reorganização das áreas de camping e estacionamento e a reforma de alguns edifícios também estão entre as metas. Todo o projeto custará aproximadamente 40 milhões de euros (cerca de R$ 217 milhões) e levará cinco anos para ser concluído. Spa-Francorchamps já havia passado por mudanças nos últimos anos. Várias alterações foram feitas para trazer novamente as corridas de Endurance de motocicletas. The first poster for the 2024 Crowdstrike 24 Hours of Spa has arrived. The first of 10 collector's edition posters, it features the 1971 AMG Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 "Rote Sau" and the new 2024 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. The "Rote Sau" comes from a particularly interesting time in AMG history, from back when AMG was not yet part of Mercedes-Benz. The "Rote Sau" was mainly known was for winning second place at Spa in 1971, before becoming obsolete. #amg #mercedesamg #spa

На нём изображены Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL, который занял вторую позицию в гонке 1971 года, и современный Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO. Всего в честь юбилея будет выпущено десять плакатов. The @arcbratislava from Slovakia was founded in 1997 and started in various racing series like Porsche Supercup, FIA GT and different endurance series. In 2016 the Team entered a @lamborghini #Huracan #GT3 in the #24hspa. Team principal Miro Konopka, Andrzej Lewandowski, Teodor Myszkowski and Zdeno Mikulasko finished on p39 overall with 502 laps completed. SRO reveals strong entry list for GTWC Europe! The Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS is due to see its Prologue at Circuit Paul Ricard next week - March 5-6 and before we hit the track, the SRO has unveiled the full season entries for the Endurance Cup and the Sprint Cup. First off all, a record nine manufacturers will participate in 2024, with Ford joining the already established Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren, Audi, Porsche and Lamborghini. These 9 manufacturers across a variety of teams will participate in four driver rating based classes - Pro Cup, Gold Cup, Silver Cup and Bronze Cup. 32 cars will do all 10 rounds as 55 cars will compete in the Endurance Cup full season and likewise 38 cars will do so in the Sprint Cup. The off-season has been quite wild for the GTWC Europe and while nothing changed with the series itself, we will see plenty of new looks and faces with various debuting teams, drivers and the sort. First of all, Ford's entry in both the Endurance Cup and Sprint Cup will be with Proton Competition, competing for overall honors. They're the brand with only one car but will certainly go strong. Dinamic GT in the same vein, has switched back to Porsche and will be right at home. Dinamic GT will be part of a large Porsche fleet, including the Schumacher CLRT, Rutronik Racing and Herberth Motorsport. Aston Martin is expected to be highly competitive, and that expectation is put on Walkenhorst Motorsport and Comtoyou Racing with multiple examples of the newly introduced Vantage. AF Corse will have two cars compete for overall honors and will have additional cars in other categories, joining their compatriots Sky Tempesta Racing, Kessel and Rinaldi Racing among others. Mercedes-AMG while having lost Akkodis ASP Team, will be strong in numbers via Winward Racing, Boutsen VDS, Madpanda Motorsport and GetSpeed. The Italian bull of Lamborghini will have teams such as Grasser Racing Team, Barwell Motorsport, GSM and Iron Lynx represent the brand but the Huracan isn't the only naturally aspirated V10 going strong. We return to the 1984 European Championship, where Jaguar entered the 24 hour race in Spa with two defeats. Now TWR would try to cut costs by introducing only two chassis on the grid and at the same time, they wanted to increase the reliability of their product by reducing the power of their enormous V12s, and they really succeeded because they won that race. The largest line was made up of seventeen BMWs, which were the most fearsome rival of this episode and the Rovers were another small minority with only four units on the track. The incredible chassis pictured is a 635CSi from the Belgian Juma Racing team based in Antwerp. This was a team formed by Julien Mampaey in 1974 and this particular chassis in the image came in second place that year. #MercedesMonday It is still winter and I like to have a look back to an event in my “14 years” with Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing. Today we have a look back to 2011 and my personal Top 3 memory with the brand. It was 1971 when my Dad Hans Heyer and Clemens Schickentanz wrote history to drive the legandary red pic Mercedes-AMG 300 SEL 6.3 at the 24h-Spa 1971. They ended up P2 overall and as class winners. 40 years later I got the opportunity to race for Black Falcon in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3, the legendary Gullwing, in the same livery as my Dad and at the same race. BMW SERIES (7) A modern race car driven old-school, the BMW Z4 GTE. Unlike its twin brother, the BMW Z4 GT3, the GTE was developed to race without electronic driving aids; such as an anti-locking braking system (ABS) and suspension control system (DSC). This was due to the regulations imposed by the now defunct American LeMans Series, which has since been replaced by the current IMSA SportsCar Championship. The GTE made its debut at the 12 hours of Sebring racing as a prototype and again in the 2015 American LeMans Series. While it was short lived, the GTE enjoyed 6 victories out of 35 races. Competing in the 24hrs of Spa and a victory at the 4hrs of Estoril in Portugal, its last ever race. BMW SERIES (5) The world’s most successful touring car of all time, the BMW M3 E30 (this model being the 1987 DTM). Following a two-year championship drought in the DTM series, the pressure was on to develop a winning car. Which, due to Group A regulations, had to originate from a road car. Paul Rosche, coming off a peak of developing championship caliber Formula One engines, was tasked with modifying the E30 into a high performing race car. Instant modifications were made to the body of the car, along with the stock six-cylinder engine being replaced with a 2,302cc S14 four-cylinder. Significantly increasing its limits from 200hp to 300hp, and 9,000 rpm. The M3 E30 was an immediate success. Winning the 1987 DTM Championship, world touring championship, and European touring championship all in its debut year. From 1987-1992 the M3 E30 went on to win: 1 x World Touring Championship 2 x European Touring Championships 7 x European Mountain Championship Titles 5 x Rally Cups 5 x Wins at 24hours of Nürburgring 3 x Wins at 24hours of Spa The most successful touring car of all time.
