I actually wanted the #ssl2 from #solidstatelogic . But now I'm glad I bought the #motu M2 Audio Interface for my Laptop. Unfortunately, the #beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro with 250 ohms are still a mess with this system. I relied on the YouTube videos that you can operate these #headphones with the SSL 2 or #motum2 . Despite the headphone #amplifier, these are still far too quiet. Next week I'll get the DT 770 Pro with 80 ohms and hope that I'll be satisfied. Finally decided to invest in some real headphones. I always preferred making music through speakers rather than headphones but I'm starting to realize if i want my mixes to sound how i want i need a better reference. When trying to use a pair of alright skullcandy bass headphones i realized how they color the sound. There is a bar in them that acts as an echo chamber to boost the bass. How do the impedance versions of the DT 770 PRO differ soundwise? There are two versions of the DT 770 models that have different membranes and coils. The models with 250 ohms and 32 ohms have a hanging coil with a lower winding height that is connected to the membrane using a supporting carrier. The suspended coil locates only in the magnetic gap during running mode. The DT 770 models with 80 ohms (and 16 ohms) impedance, however, have a driver with an overhanging coil that sticks out of the magnetic gap and is directly connected to the membrane. So there is no need for a support for the coil in the magnetic gap. Basically, the resonating mass of our overhanging drivers is higher than that of the suspended models. Therefore, the overhanging driver require a slightly thicker membrane. In terms of sound, the impedance variants differ in the treble and bass range due to the different coil dimensions as well as the different membrane thicknesses.
