𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘏𝘦𝘪𝘥𝘪 𝘎𝘳𝘪𝘮𝘸𝘰𝘰𝘥 — 𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘫𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘳 Heidi, a creative and experienced registered architect, approaches design by seeking inspiration from the natural environment, strength in simplicity, balance, crisp lines, and utilizing warm natural materials, like wood, in contrast to exposed concrete and steel. A University of Arizona graduate, she has a background in constructing retail and hotel projects across the U.S. Passionate about continuous learning, Heidi enjoys cooking, mixology, various art projects, fitness, biking, connecting with nature, and quality time with loved ones. Best Christmas present ever? Tacos. 😎 Thanks to the @phxbizjournal for the Taco Viva spotlight! We’ve had a great time collaborating with owners James Greaves of G2 Capital and Rigo Neri on this cool little gem in the Indian School corridor. Fun fact: Both owners lived in different parts of Mexico, and they wanted to share their favorite dishes with us here in Phoenix. Neri, hailing from Sonora, brings the sizzle of Sonoran-style carne asada to the menu. And Greaves, with roots in Mexico City, will be bringing his take on the city’s famed al pastor tacos. Our design philosophy for this taco spot was simple: bring a vibrant and authentic street vendor charm to Phoenix. With its crisp white walls, bold red accents, and original Latinx murals, the design combines indoor coziness with an open-air patio vibe, with the iconic Camelback Mountain in the distance. Zen Culinary's transformation was all about rethinking and reconnecting. Tucked away near Frank Lloyd Wright and Pima roads, this restaurant faced a challenge (literally): A bustling and noisy highway. Our solution? Shift perspectives — both figuratively and architecturally. 😎 We reoriented @zenculinary's patio to engage with the plaza's calmer traffic, inviting guests into a more tranquil experience. The once dark and divided interior was brightened up with full pocketing glass doors, which create that signature seamless indoor/outdoor vibe that we love. Inside, it's a fusion of elements: plants and water features that bring the outdoors in, and custom-designed lighting and bamboo-formed concrete that speak to the restaurant's Asian influence. Our design maximizes the charm of its compact space, creating a variety of experiences all centered around an inviting bar. The heart of @scapegoatbaraz is framed by a backdrop of louvered walnut, which draws your eyes to the contrasting copper-paneled wall. And we love bringing the outside in, so when the large awning window swings open, it seamlessly connects the indoors with a quaint patio space. Craft. Collaboration. Community. Fate Brewing Co.'s latest location on 7th Street in central Phoenix is a project that truly epitomizes ALINE's three guiding values. And it makes for a pretty awesome before and after, too! 😎 (Swipe to see the transformation.) With this project, we tapped into more than just great beer – we're fostering a hub of community spirit in an underserved area that was thirsty for rejuvenation. Since opening in May 2023, it's become a go-to spot for locals — a place where community bike rides refuel, and Brophy High School football fans can gather for tailgating fun. The transformation of this once-vacant building into a vibrant street presence is a story of adaptive reuse at its best. Our design move? We opened up the building's façade, giving an inviting view into the bustling energy inside. We also played with natural light and sliding windows that embrace the Arizona climate, offering an ever-changing canvas of indoor-outdoor experiences. This is a project we're really proud of, not just for its architectural design but also for how it has catalyzed the sense of community that was already in the area but just needed a place to call home. Behind every design, there's a personal story. Helping others in need isn't just important to our office; it's important to us as people. In his own words, ALINE Principal Brian Laubenthal (@brian_laubenthal) shares his personal story: "Supporting the Arizona Cancer Foundation for Children is a cause that's close to our hearts. I lost my mom due to a blood clot caused by her cancer treatments, and my wife Kristi (@klaubenthal)dedicates her life to helping others as an Oncology RN. We recently had the opportunity to attend the @azcancerfoundation 's Gala Event to show our support for their vital cause. We're honored to support ACFC, not just in spirit but also in our work. We're excited to collaborate with them to create a new space that's more than an office — it's a haven for children and families facing challenging times. Who doesn't love a good before and after? Today, we're showcasing @norisushibar located at @highstreetaz for an incredible Transformation Tuesday. At NORI we took a former seafood spot and peeled it back to its core, keeping the heart of the kitchen and sushi bar alive. Spanning nearly 10,000 square feet, our challenge was to turn this vast space into cozy, intimate dining zones. Using smart design tricks like efficiently slated wood dividers, we've created layers of transparent spaces — from the front dining and bar to the back dining and patios. The goal is for each each visit to offer a new experience, a new vibe. And yes, we did all this while keeping a sharp eye on budget. 💪 Now, what was once an overwhelming area is a series of inviting spaces, each with its own character. There’s nothing like breathing new life into an Art Deco treasure. We like to think we’re pretty good at turning obstacles into opportunities, and with this unique project, ALINE did just that — battling flood challenges and uncovering stunning wood-scribed details. We rejuvenated adjacent spaces with new entry canopies and modern steel window systems, and the reimagined courtyard now tackles rainwater challenges like a champ (shade tree plaza, FTW). For the inside spaces, we uncovered the structural beauty by exposing the gorgeous vaults within. And as a finishing touch, landscaping was added, softening the edges of the property and framing the view of the historic architecture. Celebrating World Architecture Day with a throwback to our project with @chasse.us Building Team. Transforming an old warehouse into their modern headquarters in Tempe, Arizona, wasn't just about adaptive reuse; it was about crafting a sustainable future — and every detail was intentional. We integrated solar tubes for natural light, optimized energy efficiency with intuitive mechanical systems, and championed renewable resources making the building efficient while also using fewer materials. The best part? The building is Net-Zero, which means it can potentially power itself, marking a massive step forward in sustainable design. The Chasse Building Team headquarters is really a testament to how thoughtful architecture can serve not only our communities but also our planet. A bold decision to open the east, south and west walls. This introduced a dynamic "flex" space blending indoor comfort with an outdoor feel, thanks to collapsible window walls. “Growing up in a beautiful, historic environment of Krakow, Poland, I was always surrounded by centuries old buildings, winding streets, church towers on every corner and an abundance of architectural details that literally permeated my every day world. Without really realizing it, my sense of proportion, understanding the hierarchy of things, and the composition of urban and architectural elements all shaped and informed my perception of the world. The other inspiration, which ultimately deepened my love of architecture was learning how to sew. During my childhood and early adulthood Poland was rebuilding from WWII and experiencing many economic challenges; one of them was limited access to fashionable clothing. Founded in 1996, Rosie’s House began with 15 students attending after school music classes in a small home in an impoverished neighborhood. Over the course of the past 25 years, Rosie’s House has grown to a full-fledged community music school with 500 students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds that enroll annually.
