Koleken inakayali Neuer Abelisaurier aus Argentinien (Pol et al. 2024) Schon im Jahr 2015 fand ein Forscherteam um Diego Pol vom Museo Argentino de Ciencias Naturales Bernardino Rivadavia in Buenos Aires in der La Colonia Formation in der argentinischen Provinz Chubut das Teilskelett eines fleischfressenden Dinosauriers. Es umfasst mehrere Schädelknochen, die nahezu vollständige Rückenwirbelsäule und mehrere Schwanzwirbel, Kreuzbein und Beckengürtel sowie die fast vollständigen Hintergliedmaßen. Sie gehören zu einem noch nicht ausgewachsenen, zum Zeitpunkt seines Todes wohl etwa sechs jahre alten Abelisaurier. Dieser unterscheidet sich aber anatomisch so sehr von Carnotaurus sastrei, dem einzigen anderen bislang bekannten Abelisauriden aus der La Colonia Formation, dass die Forscher das Tier als neue Art klassifizierten. Die Forscher nannten es Koleken inakayali. Der Gattungsname bedeutet auf der Teushen-Sprache soviel wie „aus Ton und Wasser kommend“. Der Artname ehrt Inakayal, einen der letzten Häuptlinge der Tehuelches, des indigenen Volkes Zentralpatagoniens. Koleken war eng mit Aucasaurus, Niebla und Carnotaurus verwandt. Die Entdeckung von Koleken inakayali bereichert das Wissen über die Vielfalt und die evolutionäre Geschichte der Abelisauriden. Sie unterstreicht außerdem die Komplexität der Dinosaurierevolution in Gondwana während der späten Kreidezeit. Koleken lebte vor etwa 71 Ma und wurde etwas mehr als 5m lang und etwa 700kg schwer. Un equipo de paleontólogos de Argentina, Estados Unidos y Hong Kong y en colaboración de National Geographic identificaron una nueve especie de dinosaurio carnívoro descubierto en la formación La Colonia, en Chubut (Patagonia argentina). El nuevo dinosaurio carnívoro fue nombrado "Koleken inakayali": Koleken proviene del idioma Tehuelche que significa "que proviene de las arcillas y el agua" y su nombre específico es en honor al líder tehuelche Inakayali. El animal vivió hace 70 millones de años en el Cretácico Superior y coexistió con el titanosaurio Titanomachya gimenezi, descubierto por los mismos investigadores el mes pasado. Koleken media aproximadamente 5 metros de largo, siendo un carnívoro de tamaño mediano que debió alimentarse de los herbívoros que habitaron la zona como titanosaurios y hadrosaurios. Metatarsal II (foot bone) from a small abelisaurid dinosaur from the late Cretaceous (Maastrichtian) phosphates of Morocco. This was a little carnivore about two and a half meters long. The phosphates are marine but the odd dinosaur would wash out to sea and get buried along with mosasaurs, plesiosaurs and sharks. African dinosaurs are so rare however- and the phosphates are so rich- that these beds have actually given us our best picture of African dinosaur diversity known from this time. And when so little is known, each additional bone we find adds a little to our knowledge. Carnotaurus Sastrei Carnotaurus Sastrei prowled the late Cretaceous epoch (69-71 million years ago) in what is now South America. Despite its slender build and relatively light weight of 2 tons, it stretched up to 8 meters in length. It is part of the Abelisauridae family, known for their tall yet comparatively short skulls, especially the one of Carnotaurus which is nearly as tall as it was long. The most striking feature of the Carnotaurus Sastrei was their thick, cone-shaped horns which could reach up to 15 centimeters. It lived in the Upper Cretaceous, approximately between 72 and 69.9 million years ago, during the Maastrichtian, in what is now South America. I don't just make art of extinct animals! I really like Monster Hunter: World, so I made this redesign of Nergigante, one of the monsters in the game. Carnotaurus sastrei, siempre quise hacer una reconstrucción de este dinosaurio, desde que vi su esqueleto imponente en Madrid. Lo intenté una vez cuando hacía 3D con 3Dmax, pero ese modelo se perdió en mi viejo ordenador. En esta reconstrucción he querido separarme un poco de la típica coloración marrón rojiza que normalmente se le da a este animal, y ponerle una cubierta queratinosa de los cuernos un poco más desarrollada de lo que normalmente se le pone. Carnotaurus siempre me ha parecido un terópodo muy distinto y extraño, con respecto a lo que tenemos en mente, su proporciones son muy peculiares y de características muy específicas. Gracias a poder tener un escaneado en 3D del esqueleto original, me he podido dar cuenta de todas las peculiaridades de este animal tan especial. La primera sensación, es que es un animal mucho más esbelto que la imagen que "Jurassic World" o la mayoría de reconstrucciones nos dan. Tenía un cuerpo y patas extremadamente largos. Su caracteristica cabeza en forma de hacha y sus peculiares cuernos, es mucho más pequeña en proporción al resto del animal, de lo que podía recordar, cuando contemple su esqueleto en el Museo Geológico de Madrid, esto puede ser debido precisamente a que su cráneo es lo primero que llama la atención del espectador debido a lo llamativo. El resto de esqueleto también es distinto: su cuello, torso y patas son muy largas, sus brazos vestigiales son dificiles de interpretar, las vértebras de la base de su cola hipertrofiadas tiene una formas muy característica. Lo que da la sensación que era un animal liviano y muy especializado, con una gran agilidad de carrera. Su increíble cráneo es muy rocoso en la parte superior, curiosamente al reconstruir sus cuernos estos me llevaban a una rotación de la punta hacia atrás. Gracias al equipo de paleontólogos argentinos y a José Fernando Bonaparte, pondemos disfruta de este increíble dinosaurio. Ha sido genial poder contar con el esqueleto para poder hacer la recuperación. I was bored, so I decided to draw a landscape with a few dinosaurs in them. This dinosaur is a species I made . pealtosaurus, which means "tall foot lizard." Is the largest ornithomimid reaching up to 18-20 feet tall it fed on lush fern, and ganga fruit. . Microzinus was a small abelisaurid reaching up from 30-60 cm. #Rugops, yang berarti "Wajah keriput" merupakan genus Dinosaurus Theropoda Abelisauridae berukuran sedang yang telah punah, yang hidup pada periode Kapur akhir (sekitar 100-93 Jtl) di tempat yang sekarang merupakan Niger dan mencakup satu spesies diakui. . Fosilnya pertama kali ditemukan saat ekspedisi yang dilakukan di dekat In-Abangharit, Republik Niger pada tahun 2000 yang dipimpin oleh Paul Sereno. Fosil yang ditemukan berupa tengkorak cukup lengkap yang digali dari formasi Echkar yang merupakan bagian dari Tegama Group yang diketahui memiliki lapisan tanah berusia dari tahap Cenomanian pada periode Kapur Akhir. . Fosil tersebut kemudian dipelajari dan dideskripsikan oleh Paul Sereno, Jeffery Wilson dan Jack Conrad yang kemudian dipublikasikan ke jurnal ilmiah pada tahun 2004. Mereka menamai genus dan spesiesnya tersebut sebagai "Rugops primus". Nama genus "Rugops" berarti "wajah berkerut", diambil dari bahasa latin "Ruga" yang berarti Kerutan dan Yunani "Ops" yang berarti Wajah, mengacu pada tengkoraknya yang memiliki tekstur seperti kerutan. Sedangkan nama spesiesnya "Primus" yang berarti Pertama. . Fosil holotipe tengkorak yang ditemukan tidak memiliki langit-langit mulut dan atap tengkorak, Bagian atas tengkoraknya mempunyai beberapa lubang yang berhubungan dengan sisik yang melapisinya, oada bagian depan moncongnya memiliki dermis yang berfungsi seperti baju zirah. Spesimen fosil mungkin mewakili individu sub-dewasa berdasarkan ukurannya yang kecil. . Pada tahun 2005, sebuah potongan fosil rahang atas kanan milik Abelisauridae telah ditemukan dari Kem Kem Group yang terletak Maroko. Potongan rahang atas ini memiliki beberapa kesamaan dengan fosil tengkorak Rugops yang sebelumnya telah ditemukan & dideskripsikan. seperti pada morfologi gigi dan sebagainya. Namun, rahang atas tidak dapat dianggap sebagai milik Rugops karena ciri diagnostik genusnya terletak di bagian tengkorak yang berbeda. .
