Les comparto una figura más de la reciente colección de dinosaurios que me regalaron, el PARASAUROLOPHUS o dicho con otras palabras el "Lagarto con cresta" o como le llama mi hija "el Dino pato". Esta pieza es un Knock off de un molde original UKRD, está fabricado en PVC y viene marcado China 1994, lo cual se me hace curioso que esté haya llegado a las manos de mi sobrino pues el nació en 2006. Pero así es esto de los juguetes, pasan de mano en mano. Me gustó mucho como está pintado, no podemos decir que es realista porque no sabemos a ciencia cierta de que color es un dinosaurio salvo solo conjeturas. Para esto de compartirles Dinosaurios me he apoyado de @randomtoys_mx , al que considero un experto en figuras de Dinosaurios, siganlo, tiene un buen catálogo de piezas y mucha información al respecto. Only known by a few teeth and small bone fragments a not yet named Spinosauridae was discovered in Fukui somewhat recently along with an Ankylosaurid in Katsuyama. I saw the real fossils at the museum during my trip. Even though it's very fragmented you can still find a gachapon of the figure at the gift shop and the artist depiction seemed to take a lot of inspiration from the JW concept Suchomimus, but with a more prominent sail and paddle tail. I asked, and the poll delivered. I’ll probably share these every now and again, but here are some BTS photos of my process painting my dinosaurs. A summarized explanation of how I paint my toys is that I always first start out with a primer, either gray or black. Next I’ll dry brush the main color on the body, and stomach. Typically this is a cream color for the stomach, and whatever base color for the rest of the figure. In some cases (like the buck Rex) I need to dry brush several times, adding yellow to the back, or multiple browns like on the trike. Then it’s usually to the garage for the airbrush. I generally layer all of my paints slowly by shade, til I match (closely or not closely) the colors I’m looking for. I always eyeball my paints when I mix them, and change when necessary. I don’t have a set strategy ever. In some cases, like the @syrett_tech and @rodsrandomwork triceratops head, I keep all of the horns unattached when painting so as not to bleed the paints when airbrushing. In the case of the @syrett_tech and @marco.cavassa buck head, I had to go back multiple times to layer paint over the face trying to match the animatronic. When I was done airbrushing, I went back in and hand painted all of the details and parts that an airbrush just can’t do as well (teeth, scales, nostrils etc). The key is “LAYERING” your paints. For the para, I ended up doing a brush of brown over it when I was done airbrushing, since I didn’t want to individually hand paint spots. The juvenile rex at the end of the carousel, is just a comparison of a finished custom to one I had just started. And the T. rex tail is an example of having to airbrush, then add yellow, and then go back with darker greens to blend everything in. El está próximo a cumplir la mayoría de edad y hace algunos años dejo de interesarse por los juguetes, de hecho siempre se inclinó por lo tecnológico como tablets o videojuegos, hasta apasionarse por las computadoras donde ahora pasa la mayor parte de su tiempo. Pero, remontandonos algunos años atrás, este pequeño era un amante de los dinosaurios, se sabía todos sus nombres, su dieta y que tipo de ecosistemas habitaban en el incipiente planeta Tierra. Como ya conocíamos su afición empezamos a obsequiarle figuras y cosas relacionadas a los Dinosaurios, al punto de tener cubetas y cajas repletas, e incluso tuvo su cumpleaños temático de Dinosaurios, para la cual le dibujamos un pequeño mural para decoración. Fue muy bonito verlo hace poco sacando sus juguetes y recordando esa etapa, contándome cuál era su favorito o quién se lo había regalado. Ahora tengo en mi colección una parte de su vida y un lazo con estas piezas, y eso es lo bonito de coleccionar, las historias y recuerdos unidos a cada juguete. #toycollector #dinosaur #dinosaurtoys

Happy Friday! I have just a few more customs to share on my page, before it’s time to work on some new ones! These are some older projects from last year! First is the JP3 Spinosaurus with paint from the jp3 hatchling toy. Not very hard but nice and the colors really pop. Next my attempt at a TLW chaos effect Paradeinonychus. This was a challenge, but worked out in the end. And last is another Rex, using the head and feet from @marco.cavassa and @syrett_tech which was a commission. It was also my first attempt at a Hammond collection or as Marco calls it “Hammond Correction”. This is what got me to start really working on Hammond collection dinosaur repaints. I have some more customs planned soon, and hopefully it all works out well!
