🇮🇪 DUBLIN’S MY HOME 🇮🇪 Brand New 3-Track EP releasing 🚨TOMORROW🚨 08-03-24 This has been an amazing project to put together and began back in 2020. 🤍 The Story • My granny was born in Dublin in 1944. She grew up in a place called Cabra (Dublin 7). She moved to England in the 60s where my dad was born and then moved up to Scotland to live with my Scottish Great Granny. She finally settled in London in the 1980s. • Granny lived with us as we were growing up, and she went through a lot of physical deterioration over the years, more than the average person, suffering from severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. She never once complained. Ever. She was the paradigm of optimism, enduring all the challenges she faced in her life, and her stories of Dublin from her formative years always featured heavily in her daily conversations with us. • Sadly, our granny passed away in 2020. We continue to miss her everyday and we can still hear her lovely soft Irish voice when we think about what she might say or think about situations now. • As a family, we reminisce on all the stories and conversations she had with us, which inspired me to start a project, writing a musical (lightly) chronicling her life. • This EP is a tribute to her, the anecdotes she shared with us from Ireland and her teenage years; capturing her spirit and love for her birthplace and the place she identified with as Home. Part1 "WHY" PORTRAYAL OF THE AFTERMATH OF AN ATROCITY The Story: Depicted is an imaginary scene, the aftermath of an atrocity of the Northern Ireland troubles  which spanned the closing decades of the 20th Century. Of the many tragedies, and the story which inspired this image, was the bombing of the van in which The Miami Show band travelled home after a gig in Northern Ireland in July 1975.  Five people died including three members of the band.  Cross border travel was a regular event for those in show business, and this attack continues to evoke sadness to this day. The story of this atrocity, has recently featured in a Netflix documentary. I have previously painted  Fran O'Toole, the very talented lead singer with The Miami Show Band and a Bray native,  in a stylised Pop-Art influenced painting.  Fran losing his life so violently at such a young age affected me greatly, and even more so as time goes by.  I have often wondered how the perpetrators of this and the many needless deaths have reconciled themselves to their violent past, which resulted in innocent deaths and unspeakable misery. The scene I portray in this art piece is one of the aftermath of evil deeds, and I was commissioned  to produce this piece for a collector. I decided that this photographic art type image would suit the concept. I was able to source the historic props through  Brittas Bay Antiques Store in County Wicklow  where everything required for a  1970's feel was available.  I  also needed military paraphernalia and here I was assisted in my search by the the photographer on the project Dermot Byrne. It was also through  Dermot that comedian Dave Young volunteered as our 'model'.  Dave's pastime of hunting and shooting provided the heavy metal!  He was happy to provide the military pieces for the image.  We even used the smoke machine from his stage show! Part 2 "WHY" PORTRAYAL OF THE AFTERMATH OF AN ATROCITY Speaking of smoke and for the record,  Dave doesn't actually smoke, but his efforts were very convincing for the sake of art! The staged scene appears relaxed and realistic,  as if the violence was normalised which did indeed symbolise the feeling at the time, that it was all removed from us, until one of our own died, the night the music stopped.   The photographer and I worked together on the visual, transferring the imagined scene from my imagination, adding the sepia tones and the final colour effects. This actual scene is only a representation of similar events which I imagine may have been commonplace in those troubled years. I can only continue to express my grief,  sadness and abhorrence of all  baseless violent acts and also the perpetrators of these acts.                            I wish to express my thanks to:                                     Dermot Byrne Photographer. Understanding elastic collision between two Rocks with unknown masses I have this problem here that goes like this: Two curling rocks of equal mass, one ( @ DwayneJohnson ) red and the other yellow ( @ DickieRock ), are involved in a perfectly elastic, glancing collision. The yellow rock is initially at rest and is struck by the red rock which is moving at a speed voivoi =6 m/s. After the collision, the red rock moves along a direction that makes an angle of θ=20 degrees with its initial direction of motion. (a) What is the speed of the red rock? (b) What is the speed of the yellow rock? (c) What angle does the yellow rock make with the initial direction of motion? I'm a bit stuck at figuring out how to set up the system. I first use conservation of momentum equation here. Initial: vyellowx=0vyellowx=0 vyellowy=0vyellowy=0 vredx=6vredx=6 vredx=0vredx=0 Final: vyellowx=−vyellowcos(20)vyellowx=−vyellowcos(20) vyellowy=−vyellowsin(20)vyellowy=−vyellowsin(20) vredx=vredvredx=vred vredxy=0vredxy=0 If we plug this in to conservation of momentum for x component we get: mred(6)=myellow(−vyellowcos(20))+mredvredmred(6)=myellow(−vyellowcos(20))+mredvred For y component we get: 0=myellow(−vyellowsin(20)0=myellow(−vyellowsin(20) Is this set up correct? Is my interpretation of the problem sound? Would I just simply proceed by also using conservation of energy here? The year is 1966. And as the 11th #Eurovision takes place in Luxembourg for the second time, #Ireland makes its second appearance at the contest it would come to dominate. And in a bold move that many hope @explorerte would do again today, Ireland sent one of its biggest stars of the day - Dickie Rock. Dickie was a hero of Ireland's "showband" era of music, a style of danceband music that was hugely popular from the 50s to the 80s. Unsurprisingly, Dickie won the Irish national final by a landslide with "Come Back To Stay", written by Rowland Soper. The song was a slow ballad, with Dickie asking a lover to come back to him and that he wouldn't make them sad again. For the first time, the legendary Noel Kelehan conducted the orchestra for Ireland, marking the first of his 29 appearances, more than any other person at the contest. Innan han kom till oss på Krk har han varit tävlingshäst i hoppning. 🏆🐴 Han har tävlat högre klasser internationellt och har ett FEI-pass, för att göra resor och tävlingar utomlands möjligt. ✈️🎠 Han är en mycket väluppfostrad och vänlig kille som upplevs väldigt trygg och jordnära. ✨ Kanske är han lite oimponerad av ’lilla Kungsbacka’ eftersom han vart ute och rest en del? 🚛 Eller så försöker han bara leva upp till delar av sitt namn och är en klippa att luta sig mot? 🥰 Dickson är en känslig kille som lätt får ruggad päls, därav har han ett flertal tillägg i utrustningen för att underlätta för honom. 🐑 Att han både är stor och ryggen lång dessutom gör det däremot lite knepigt att få allt på rätt plats.
