We hopped on a plane to visit Tonya and her family in Turks and Caicos (Grand Turks) to explore their world for a week. A world which is mostly under water. A world that seemed pretty terrifying to me, but so brilliant and mesmerizing at the same time. Thereโs a whole entire world under the water. And Iโve been as equally enthralled as nervous to begin to unravel my fears of ocean life. Well, yesterday I got to swim with sting rays at Gibbs Cay while my kids jumped off a boat. Then got to snorkel out in the middle of the ocean. I was feeling absolutely terrified to just drop off a boat in the middle of the ocean, so I climbed onto the stairs into the water, hung on for dear life and put my face mask in. (We had done this in Thailand but the water was so rough, I lasted 2 seconds) I almost died of amazement. So many fish. So many colors. So much life. I slowly let go (as I watched Tonyaโs kids and Cora launch themselves off a 2 story boat and dive down into the depths of the ocean) and snorkeled my little heart out. It took me a bit to not panic every time I put my head in with the snorkel tube but eventually it got easier and off I went. Slowly I drifted away from the boat with tonya an arms reach away (I think she knew I needed a safety blanket as I ventured away from the boat) when she says, โlook!โ And there was โThe Wall.โ A drop, 7000 feet into the deepest depths of the ocean. What a magical moment. To my left is the bluest of blue ocean floor with reef and fish and to my right? An abyss into the under water world. People come from all over the world to scuba dive โthe wallโ and here I was. Floating above it, wondering what beauty exists way down there. Such a beautiful experience. One I never want to forget the feeling of. Unfortunately, I have hardly any pics because Iโm terrified of dropping my phone into the ocean. #snorkeling #thewallgrandturk #stingrays #gibbscay #travelingwithkids #grandturks #oceanlife #newexperiences
