【活動報導】泰國宋干節—水的祝福｜Thailand Songkran Festival - The Blessing of Water 這次活動的一大特色是可以品嚐到道地的泰式奶茶🥤主辦們精心走訪了泰國同學親自推薦的店家，讓參加者能夠品嚐到最真實的泰國味道🇹🇭 活動中透過遊戲與問答💬，不僅讓參加者更了解宋干節的傳統儀式，還透過講者介紹的歷史、地理、文化、經濟和社會等五大主題，讓大家更深入地認識泰國。而活動以分享式進行，台下的參加者也提出了許多有趣的問題，包括泰國的愛情觀、泰國人推薦的新竹美食以及如何交到泰國女朋友等等。在小測驗遊戲中，還加入了分辨美女和ladyboy的環節，連泰國同學都難以分辨，實在是相當有趣！😆 因應時事，參加者們也與泰國同學討論了近期台灣大地震的事情。由於泰國地形關係，造山⛰️運動少，這次的地震經驗也讓他們笑說是一生難忘的經驗。泰國同學也藉機和大家分享泰國的城鄉分佈因爲地形因素而與台灣有什麼不同之處。 儘管活動因缺水💦而無法進行潑水環節，但在活動結束時，大家仍輪流在主視覺海報上留下祈福訊息，共同享受泰國新年氛圍和歡樂時光。 🎉 This event‘s highlight is the opportunity to taste authentic Thai milk tea 🥤. Organizers meticulously selected shops recommended by Thai students, allowing participants to experience the genuine taste of Thailand 🇹🇭. Through games and Q&A sessions 💬, attendees not only gained insights into the traditional rituals of Songkran Festival but also delved deeper into Thailand’s history, geography, culture, economy, and society, presented by the speakers. The event was interactive, with participants posing many intriguing questions, including Thai perspectives on love, recommended delicacies in Hsinchu by Thai locals, and tips for dating Thai girlfriends, among others. An entertaining segment in the quiz game involved distinguishing between beautiful women and ladyboys, even leaving Thai students puzzled. 😆 Given recent events, participants also discussed the recent major earthquake in Taiwan with Thai students. Due to Thailand‘s topography resulting in fewer tectonic activities ⛰️, the earthquake experience was memorable for them. Thai students also seized the opportunity to share differences in urban and rural distribution in Thailand due to geographical factors compared to Taiwan. To say I am proud today is an understatement. When Jordan was 2 and diagnosed with Autism at age 3, life was a little unsure of what the future would hold. To say growing up was challenging was an understatement. Everything has been a challenge for Jordan but he never lost sight of his goals. He always told me, we wanted to go to college. He wanted all the experiences his peers would have and was determined to make sure that happened. Well today my baby graduated college with a certificate of higher learning through the Regis Global Program. To say I am thankful for this program is an understatement. Jeanine Coleman and Morgan McNeill I am eternally grateful for you for presenting this opportunity for my son. With guidance from Maggy, their Computational Technology Coordinator, these students are combining their artistic talents with a touch of technology. The Quiver app transforms their prehistoric creations into stunning 3D animations. This project is a fun and engaging way for students to learn about dinosaurs and showcase their creativity. 【活動報導】一茶一會 日本茶道體驗活動 Thank you to Teacher 伊藤紋子 for bringing a fantastic tea ceremony experience last week✨ During the event, everyone was paired up, one acting as the tea server and the other as the tea drinker, taking turns. We got to whisk our matcha 🍵 by ourselves, experiencing the rich culture of the Japanese tea ceremony. In the end, partners from Tenka Academy gathered everyone’s handwritten thank-you cards into a booklet and gave it to the teacher to take back to Japan🇯🇵 ✨Q&A✨ Q: Do different schools of tea ceremony convey the same meaning? A: They are more or less the same, as both the Urasenke and Omotesenke schools originate from Sen no Rikyu’s promotion and enhancement. Q: How can one distinguish good matcha from the cheaper ones? A: The key is whether the tea-making process meticulously perfects each step, for instance, the extraction method used during steaming. Good matcha is usually more expensive and has a sweeter aroma. Cheaper matcha is less expensive and tends to be more bitter. However, a skilled tea ceremony master can make a bowl of cheaper tea taste better through professional brewing techniques. Q: Does every school in Japan have a tea ceremony club? A: After the pandemic, the tea ceremony is a skill that is gradually diminishing in Japan. The government is also dedicated to incorporating cultural clubs into schools, such as tea ceremony, ikebana (flower arranging), and kendo. We ditched the usual green, and opted for a delicious adventure, crafting delightful Nutella truffles filled with creamy dulce de leche. We will pair you with a language partner based on the language you want to improve, and enhance your reading and writing abilities through exchanging diaries.📖 Every two weeks, we will provide you with current news related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as reference topics for your diary exchange. In this language exchange diary program, you may not only improve your writing skills but also get to learn the latest news about sustainable topics.🌱 To encourage interactions between language partners, we will host monthly meetings at the end of each month. We will provide meals and do interesting games to let you get to know your language partner better.
