Tuesday 9th April 2024~ Exploring the Cave Kingdom of Vietnam. Phong Nha - Kẻ Bàng national park is a UNESCO world heritage site known for its rich biodiversity and unique karst system. It’s actually the oldest karst system in SE Asia (400-450 million years old) and is home to the largest caves in the world. Until 10 years ago Phong Nha village was a farming village with little income. Most people were hunters and loggers. Today they thrive of tourism welcoming people from all corners of the world. 1. 2. - Hang Nước Nứt - Discovered in 2003 and is around 2 million years old. I have never seen stalactites and stalagmites quite like it. 3. 4. 5. 6. Hang Va - Connects to Nước Nứt and is located 50m from the exit of Sơn Đoòng. Hang Va has the most unique cave formations in the world. Scientist are still baffled as to how the ‘tower cones’ are formed. 7. 8. Hang Én - I’ve slept in the third largest cave in the world. With the highest point at 145m and a max width of 200m, I felt like an ant in a whole new underground world. Locals found this cave hundreds of years ago and would catch young swifts by using vines to climb up to the nests. Hang Én’s river systems runs through to Sơn Đoòng, the largest cave in the world. Sơn Đoòng was first discovered by locals in 1990 and in 2013 was recognised as the worlds largest cave. They still haven’t explored all depths of this cave. Divers recently found new underground passages and made it down to 93m where they then ran out of oxygen and had to turn back. It just continued 🤯. To visit this cave you might be lucky to get a space in 2025 if not 2026… 70% of this national park still hasn’t been explored. The park is full of unexploded mines and ammunition from the war and therefore incredibly inaccessible for us humans. I guess you could argue it’s a bit of a blessing? Incredible nature. Incredible people. Unforgettable experience. #biodiversity #hangencave #hangva #nuocnutcave #cavingadventure #explore #biologist #oxalis

2 days 28 km and 650 m of elevation gained. I’ve been inside the Vietnamese jungle, disconnected from everything, walking through rivers to finally get to the 3rd biggest cave in the world. In the last few years, I always have the feeling that we spend most of our life in front of a laptop losing the connection with nature. After many trips, I started looking for more local experiences where I could get in contact with the real country culture. The minorities in Vietnam are still present, living a really basic and happy life. Sharing time in a local village made me realize how we are constantly focus on goals that don’t bring you the real happiness. Despite someone will not agree, the real happiness comes from sharing your life with people around the world and connecting with the most untouched places left on the earth 🌍🇻🇳 #hangencave #việtnam #lost #jungle #explore #nature #enjoy #life

Another throwback. I was in northern Vietnam when I realized I had the opportunity to camp in the third largest cave in the world. I figured there was no way the tour had any availability for at least the next few months let alone that week, but I called them and was able to book a $300 tour just a few days out. Oxalis is the only company with rights to take people to Hang En. They’re an extremely professional company focused on environmental conservation (down to the fact that they have composting toilets inside the cave). A very small group of us trekked through the beautiful dense jungle and crossed rivers - just getting there was a super memorable adventure. But then, we reached the entrance. Peep our tiny yellow tents on the beach on the left hand side (pic 1). I truly can’t describe the feeling of standing there. That evening, we had dinner and drinks, and the camaraderie/ stoke was high. 🫶🏼 In the morning, some of us swam in the lake as the light streamed through the entrance. We then clambered up and over rocks for about an hour to get to the exit of the cave- just as grand (pics 5 & 6). Fun fact: Hang En Cave is right next to the largest known cave in the world, Son Doong, which was recently discovered in 1990 and not explored until 2006 (Y’ALL!!). We kept asking our guides to “go over there real quick.” Given that it’s so huge it has its own weather system, the 5 night adventure through Son Doong w/ Oxalis is definitely a bucket list item for me (Google this place fr). Plus, I’ll take any reason to go back to northern Vietnam. 💙 #HangEnCave #vietnam #vietnamphotography

Overnight in one of the largest caves in the world Four of the five largest caves in the world are located near the village of Phong Nha in Vietnam. The curious thing is that they were only discovered a few years ago. When I first heard about the caves and saw pictures, I realised that I had to add a place to my bucket list. The day before yesterday was finally the day. I booked a tour to the so-called "Hang Én Cave" - the third largest cave in the world - with the largest tour provider Oxalis. The special thing about the tour: apart from the physical requirements (I had to provide information about when my last health check was, how often I exercise and whether I have any fears), the fact that you can spend the night in the cave. We set off the next morning. After fourteen sweat-inducing kilometres through leech-infested jungle (the guides jokingly call the forest the "Leech Kingdom") and 18 river crossings, some of which were waist-deep, we reached the entrance to the 1.6-kilometre-long cave in a remote region near the Laotian border. Helmets on and lamps on. We continued uphill and downhill over huge boulders through the darkness. When we reached our camp at the other end, I was almost speechless. Firstly because the place was so mystical and secondly because the cave where the tents were located was an incredible 140 metres high. It was an unforgettable night. Apart from the whirring of a few bats and the gentle babbling of the stream that has washed this place out of the limestone over millions of years, there was one thing above all: an unforgettable silence. It was wonderful and I am glad to have invested the almost 300 euros for this lasting experience! . . ♥️🇻🇳♥️🇻🇳♥️🇻🇳♥️🇻🇳 . 💪Supported by: @swmotech @ixsmoto @yamahamotorde @heidenauer_reifen . . #totravelistolive #hangencave #caving #phongnha #bucketlist #fernweh #mototravel #vietnamtravel #vietnam #vietnamtrip  #visitvietnam #partofyourride #ixsfamily #southeastasianadventure #i♥️vietnam #warumichmotorradfahre #makelifearide #borntoride #adventurebikeriders

Camping in the third largest cave in the world. Experiencing this cave was one of the highlights of our journey. We had to hike one day through the jungle to get to this natural wonder. Only 16 people a day are allowed to enter this cave so we are very happy to be under the select few that could have this experience. Hang En Cave has its own special ecosystem. The main cave is about 200m long as well as 140m high. There is a beach with a lake inside the cave where we could swim as well. Spending time in this special place was truly a big perspective shift. Also sleeping in a large cave like this was so amazing. On the second day we explored the cave further. Leading us through complete darkness we reached the other exit of the cave which is also massive. Absolutely amazing. #hangencave #caving #adventure #travel

Hang En. En cave (in English) Epic overnight stay inside Hang En. It’s the world’s third largest cave in terms of volume. If you zoom in on some of our pics, it gives you size perspective. We hiked to the cave, put on our hard helmets and descended. A cute raft was waiting to bring us across the lake to the beach campsite And then we spent the most wonderful 24 hours. @oxalisadventure has it all organized. We went swimming in the cold water, Patrick hit the steam tent (yes that is actually a thing!) and we were served a very plentiful and varied dinner. Then evening by campfire 🔥 exchanging travel stories with our 14 co-adventurers. After a well deserved night in our tents we had breakfast and headed deep inside the cave with only our headlamps to light the way. We hiked a total of 3k inside the cave. The team of porters and cooks outnumbered the number of campers. Quite the operation. And great care is taken for the environment. It’s strictly carry in, carry out. There is no waste left behind and everything is carried in (propane, food, coal) through the same jungle hike we did ourselves. (Before you ask, yes these are our original pictures 🤷🏻‍♀️) #Wanderlust #seetheworld #discovertheworld #traveladdict #hangencave #igtravel #phongnha #vietnam #vietnamtravel #glamping #expeditiontravel

Expedition to Hang En cave. Base camp was Phong Nha, about 45 min from Dong Hoi. 📍 Ke Bang National Park. 13 km hike there, deep into the jungle of Vietnam. We booked this expedition with @oxalisadventure and we are so glad we did! The terrain was rough, and they do call everyone to make sure you are fit enough for the journey. Great care is also given to your footwear and clothing. Obviously we passed the test even though we were on the older side. 😂 We must have traversed 15-20 streams. Wet feet and big smiles on our faces! I’ll post about the cave itself in the next post. I can definitely say the journey was a great part of the expedition. #Wanderlust #seetheworld #discovertheworld #traveladdict #donghoi #hangencave #igtraveller #vietnam #vietnamtravel #kebangnationalpark

The last bit of mystical gloomy evening light creeping in to camp through the collapsed shard of ceiling high above the floor of doline 1. Sat down here for a little while on my own while the team were preparing dinner at camp. A small walk down from camp at the start of the steep descent down to the rumbling underground river that created this insane cave system some 2.5 million years ago. Absolutely fascinated by how alien this section of the cave at camp looked and felt, the table top, layered tiers of stalagmites that formed the floor of the whole camp and descent area. The mesmerising clouds dancing through camp above the jagged limestone rocks littering the river running deep below. The mossy alien green flora and algae, spilling in to the cave from the jungle ceiling, offering a chance of life to grow from the jungle aboves light and rain water. And to the far left the 2 prominent rocks you can see, I don't quite know what my fascination was with these...... Just gave me mad prometheus vibes, the gigantic pyramid shaped limestone rock and the bizzare upside down elephant trunk shaped stalagmite. Both dominating camp and covering the black abyss of the underground river with the clouds constantly moving around them. As with almost all the photography on this expedition it's almost impossible to give or show full justice of the sheer size of this cave system and landmarks with in it. But if you refer to the photo of looking down on this camp (the photo before this one) And compare to a tent or person you'll see these 2 rocks are quite literally around 3x the size of a normal 2 story house each of them. They were massive. #stalagmites #stalagmite #hopeandvision #handofdog #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Campsite 1 within Son Doong "the level playing fields" camping at the foot of doline 1. This campsite defined the aura of how much this expedition through here felt like another planet or a set out of avatar. Just can't explain in words. The alien looking formations, the scale of everything you're surrounded in, the savage and violent distant rumble of the fast flowing pristine waters of the underground river rapids and waterfalls. The constantly shifting cloud formations looming and flowing like liquid over the surrounds of camp from its very own eco system. Because of the caves scale creating the temperature shifts between outside and inside. The greenery from doline 1 "watch out for dinosaur" creeping down in to the cave. With the slice of natural light from the slither of collapsed ceiling some 449m above doline 1, moodily illuminating part of camp and the jungle fauna below that the collapsed part of the ceiling had allowed daylight and water to create. Absolutely insane this campsite after an entire day from morning, til late afternoon, trekking, traversing, wading, and abseiling, from hang ens camp in the morning nearly 4km out through the back of the cave, through the jungle and it's rivers to the entrance of Son Doong. Then 300m from the ceiling entrance down in to Son Doong and a further 4km through some insane passages and chambers, to camp here at the base of doline 1. #stalagmites #stalagmite #hopeandvision #handofdog #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Stood beneath the hand of dog stalagtite after traversing through hope and vision passage. Literally just about to come up on the first viewpoint down on to the insane camp 1 in son doong "the level playing fields" with doline 1 setting the back drop. Trekking up and across the huge, slippery stalagmite formations. There were big sections of this, gaining serious height up until this point that we weren't harnessed in, completely exposed and I remember hanging back from the group taking it all in with 1 guide. Conscious of every single step being made, I remember thinking 1 lapse in concentration or 1 single wrong step would be the difference between life or death. To the left hand side of me in this picture and all the way up to this point was just sheer sloped stalagmite side, so obviously every footing had to be thought out, leaning in to the slope, where there wasn't an actual path, your just trekking on pure stalagmite formation. But looking down to the left in to sheer blackness, to an underground river you cannot see deep below probably 50m + from this point. I just remember the Adrenaline of that thought, with hearing the intense and insanely powerful roar of the fast moving water in the underground river, and the cool air of the caves climate on my face, with the echo of every sound within the cave in my ears. Just that knowledge of if you slip, with just no chance of gripping anything on the way down, just falling faster and faster down the slippery face in to pure blackness. A constant sensory overload every part of this expedition for me. Can't be likened to anything else. #stalagmites #stalagmite #hopeandvision #handofdog #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

A closer up and more detailed shot of the guides illuminating the latter half section of hope and vision passage with a guide stood atop hand of dog stalagmite in front of doline 1 backdrop. Some weird names of sections and landmarks within son doong, and hand of dog probably one of the weirdest. When naming parts of the cave on the original survey when the cave system was first being discovered and explored. The 2 people that were in charge of surveying this section, 1 called out to the other and suggested to be named hand of God when coming across it. But being a fair distance apart was misheard as "hand of dog" not "hand of God" and once written in to the map. Was recorded as this for good and unable to change. So has remained the name of it since. #stalagmites #stalagmite #hopeandvision #handofdog #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

This particular shot is incredible for showing scale in this section of Son doong. Known as hope and vision passage, looking about 1.5km in to the misty distance to a little glimpse of some natural light towards doline 1 and the huge infamous stalagmite way way in the distant centre of the passage known as hand of dog. If you zoom in to this photo you can see 3 of 4 guides that have flood lit sections of hope and vision passage to give you an idea of scale. There's one to the left side of me out of shot, 1 in front to the far right, 1 far in front in the immediate centre, and 1 very very far in the distance stood atop the hand of dog stalagtites you cab just make out the guide shining his headlamp back at me dead centre of the daylight you can see in the very distance. This passage is gigantic, big enough hypothetically, to comfortably fly a boeing 747 through the centre of. Also in this shot the left hand side of this photo the big cluster of stalagmites you can see here, is the reason for the name of this passage, the stalagmite is named hope and vision and at 80m tall is the tallest known stalagmite in the world. #stalagmites #stalagmite #hopeandvision #handofdog #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Looking back up at the giant 300m section we had just abseiled and descended down, from the jungle roof of Son doongs entrance to the cave floor. Equivalent in height to a 90 story building the initial descent. This gives some better scale of the entrance to the first chamber of this cave. Again only made possible to see the scale of these chambers by being flood lit by the safety team to soak in for small amounts of time before we push on further in to the expedition. A huge percentage of Son doong you just wouldn't be able to witness properly or photograph without the team flood lighting parts in different sections. Just far too big and pitch black to see it's scale otherwise. Something you can never guage with a headlight just not powerful enough. #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

View from around the halfway point of the 300m abseil down from the ceiling entrance of Son doong. Looking down in to the black abyss of the first giant opening chamber of Son doongs mind blowing and never ending vastness. A cool shot but this photo can't even begin to do it justice or show you just how giant this first look in to one small section of Son Doong is, with nothing to size or scale comparison it to, it is absolutely gigantic 🤯 #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Final moments of proper daylight for the next few days. Stood atop the small ceiling entrance of the mighty Son Doong cave (the largest cave in the world) Harnessed up ready to slowly descend and abseil 300m down the sheer and insanely slippery rock face and giant stalagmite formations to the chamber floor of Son doong 🔥 Could feel the fresh cold air pressure and wind funneling out of the cave from this point. Where it had travelled many kms through the cave system to only escape at this point. Was absolutely tingling at this stage knowing my mind was likely about to be blown, but I couldn't of foreseen to what level it was 🤯 The red rock markings you see behind me signify who discovered the cave and what he named the cave. Son Doong Cave - Cave of the mountian river. Son Doong entrance was discovered by 1 local jungleman in 1990 but completely inaccessible without serious equipment so he moved on, and was deemed forever lost for nearly 20 years after many failed attempts to rediscover the entrance deep within Vietnamese jungle again. Until finally being found again in 2008 and marked for directions by the man who originally found it. Then returning with a British caving expedition team in 2009 and 2010 to map out and survey the depths of this goliath cave system. Eventually being opened commercially to the world in 2013 for expeditions. So only the past 10 years has the world minus a handful of caving teams been able to witness the grandeur of this monster for themselves. With a cap of 1000 people max per year, and a very high price tag. For an extremely exclusive, and insanely unique once in a lifetime experience. And I hope it remains this way... A truly mind altering experience 🖤 #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

After a good night's sleep and the comfort of semi dry clothes, boots, and fresh dry socks leaving camp at Hang En behind and hiking all the way out of the backside of the cave, and in to the jungle and daylight. We pushed on upstream for the next few hours to the entrance of Son doong. With the sky opening up as soon as we exited hang en, soaked through, raining relentlessly, traversing many rivers up to the waist, fallen trees, rocks, being attacked by leeches at every angle. Finally stopping for lunch hours later at a sheltered jungle camp high up in the jungle valley, after leaving the many river crossings behind and hiking up leech mountain. Getting a good feed on in the jungle camp under shelter as it continued to pour with rain, and a big leech check to remove any little blood suckers hidden in the cracks, crevises and creases of our clothes and boots. Before harnessing up and being safety briefed before we began the steep sheer descent down to the small opening entrance at the very top of Son doong 🔥 #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Final moments looking back in to the vast dark abyss of Hang En as I exit this mind blowing cave for the 2nd time in my life. But this time not to turn and come straight back through, instead the push on to son doong and out the other side. This shot speaks volumes of me acknowledging this is maybe the last time I see this place with my own 2 eyes again in my lifetime. Just soaking it in 1 last time. Not a big advocate for the selfie unless on me own with vast stunning landscape and me gopro to hand. But Glad I nabbed this shot, takes me back to exactly what was in my eyes and my mind in this moment 👌🏻 #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #gopro #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Viewpoint of the gigantic exit opening of Hang En Cave. A 1.6km hike through the cave from the camp, before descending down to the chamber floor and out of this goliath cave and in to the jungle, for the days push up river to Son Doong. #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #trekking #oxalisadventuretours #jungletrekking #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebangnationalpark #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #landscapephotography #landscape #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Short hike before breakfast up to the back corner viewpoint over hang en camp looking down on to camp, the river system and the morning light creeping in through the huge collapsed entrance of Hang En. #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebang #vietnam #asia #southeastasia #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #wanderlust #travelphotography #camping #camp #adventure @oxalisadventure @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Every waking morning, every sound, thought, feeling, smell, sight from this expedition...... Stored in my brain like concrete. Sleeping bag views of the morning light creeping in from the collapsed entrance of camp 1 in Hang En Cave as I opened my eyes first thing in the morning ready for day 2 of exiting through the back side of Hang Ens mammoth chamber out in to the jungle and in to the entrance of the mighty son doong. #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #camping #camp #longexposurephotography #longexposure #longexpo #longexpoelite #longexposureoftheday #adventure @oxalisadventure @sonyalpha @sonyalphagallery @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @longexposure_shots @longexposure_daily @longexpo_addiction @longexpoelite @longexpo your_longexpo @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Night photography is a constant challenge in itself. With many factors involved depending on what it is you're shooting, ie the lighting, weather, movement, a fast aperture, they all play a huge part in getting the shot or not getting the shot. Although very happy with the shots I came away with on the Son Doong expedition, this is by far one of the most challenging places I've ever shot in the dark with long exposure. With very little natural light for the most part of the days of the expedition itself. It's hard to explain just how dark it is in this mammoth cave system besides your head torch beams. Huge props to the huge crew of porters, cooks, guides and safety guides helping out with their flood lights in some stunning parts of this expedition. Allowing me to take some very unique shots that I otherwise just wouldn't of been able to capture even with a lens as capable as the one I use. #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #longexposurephotography #longexposure #longexpo #adventure @oxalisadventure @sonyalpha @sonyalphagallery @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @longexposure_shots @longexposure_daily @longexpo_addiction @longexpoelite @longexpo your_longexpo @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Nightfall at Hang En camp. Sleeping in this colossal chamber, river side within the cave, looking out at the starry skies above the jungle canopy through the collapsed entrance in the distance. The maddest dreams were had at each and every camp and night during this expedition. #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #camping #camp #longexposurephotography #longexposure #longexpo #longexpoelite #longexposureoftheday #adventure @oxalisadventure @sonyalpha @sonyalphagallery @earthpix @natgeoyourshot @natgeotravel @longexposure_shots @longexposure_daily @longexpo_addiction @longexpoelite @longexpo your_longexpo @earthplanet_pics @natgeo

Camp 1, the first night's sleep of the Son Doong expedition in the goliath chamber of Hang En Cave (the 3rd largest cave in the world) Sleeping aside a natural emerald river, below thousands and thousands of darting swifts that pour in to the cave after dusk, flying over head the entire night until dawn the following morning. There really is no way of describing the scale of this chamber and camp in words. Pictures can never do it full justice, it is an absolute giant. Roughly 145m high and 200m wide. To put that in to perspective that's more or less 2 full football pitches stacked side on, on top of each other. One of the most insane campsites in the whole world for sure! #hangsondoong #sondoong #sondoongcave #largestcaveintheworld #hangencave #caving #cave #caves #caveexploring #expedition #oxalis #oxalisadventuretours #phongnha  #phongnhakebang #vietnam #explore #travel #worldtraveller #photography #sonyalpha #wanderlust #travelphotography #nature #naturephotography #landscapephotography #adventure @oxalisadventure
