A wonderful time today introducing the kids to C2E2! 1. Those who know the kids' names and some comic book lore might appreciate the choices. 2. Shirts on kids still have reasons. 3. Banner 4. I managed to spend no money in here though I could have easily spent all of it. 5. Jorge Jimenez signed some books I brought with me and also signed a Batman book I'd bought earlier in the day from... 6. Chip Zdarsky who I bought two books from and got those signed. 7. Tony S. Daniel had absolutely no line which boggled my mind. We had a lovely talk about light and art and theater and the visually stunning elements of all of those. He was doing a huge discount on prints, so I got three signed prints and had him sign two things I'd brought with me. 8. I wasn't familiar with Baldemar Rivas, but he was selling a book he'd drawn about the five Robins which I bought and had him sign when I realized I could also get it signed by the writer... 9. Tim Seeley who I've met before and always makes the tough guy face in his photo ops. 10. Met up with my old friend and Chicago celebrity @chadburd 11. This kid met a robot he doesn't know but thought was super cool. He doesn't know the word "droid" yet. 12. He met so many awesome robots and was wired about all of them! 13. Cutie. I kinda got behind on posting my Blush pix for the last couple of weeks 😅 so here you go! #latergram We started with #bicepsandtriceps. You’ll see in a separate post that I’ve gotten decent at #triceppushups. The next pic is one the trainer grabbed of the kiddos cheering on the folks in the next class after we were done. I love seeing them cheer on others as well as seeing healthy lifestyles! After some arm work, we did even more arms by doing shoulders and chest. We did kettlebell stability presses. You don’t think it seems that hard, but wow, it was a challenge! Love that pic of L doing pushups too. 🥰 The next day was medballs and kettlebells. I really like those days the most! That workout was a doozy though, oh my goodness. We followed up with back and quads, so got some rows in and #elevatedgobletsquats. On Friday, we did #fullbody. Day 5 of the eclipse road trip was the last travel day before reaching the eclipse viewing gathering spot at Garner State Park. One of the delightful surprises on this trip was discovering so many interesting things especially in the small towns of west Texas. Alpine is the gateway town to Big Bend national park but is also home to Sul Ross State University and has a vibrant “Main St” with a prolific art mural program and several small businesses. It is still served by Amtrak’s Sunset Limited and Texas Eagle routes. The next town to the east is Marathon, which is where I discovered this hidden gem, “The French Company Grocer.” It carries way above its weight for a small town grocer with a wide selection of fresh produce and fruits as well as unexpected items such as fresh Hatch green chile. They also have a coffee shop and in-house chef making fresh take-to-go breakfast and lunch items including this green chile burrito. As the desert transitioned to the hill country, the flowering cacti gave way to more colorful wildflowers. If you’re looking for brake, stop by the recently renovated Judge Roy Bean Museum and Langtry Travel Information Center where you can see the home of the before mentioned judge and gather lots of tourist information. Another great resting stop is the Pecos High Bridge where I had my lunch and enjoyed the views of the gorge formed by the Pecos River. From this point, it was less than 3 hours from my final destination, and you can see signs of anticipation and excitement for the total eclipse everywhere.
