I’ve been a bit quiet on social media this week… been reflecting on last year. Like many of you, I had a lot of many wonderful things happened.. but they were overshadowed by devastating heartache. And it’s not that I’m ignoring the good that happened— I just refuse to allow the pain to be wasted! In all the loss, challenges, accusations & devastation.. Happy anniversary & Father's Day to my sweetie. At this moment 23 yrs ago today, we were getting ready to say I do. So many micro memories from that day- snapshots of memories in my mind and today one stands out above the rest... A simple hiccup will forever be remembered by all in attendance.. when they played "The Summer of 69" for our unity candle song. Everyone knew it was the wrong song.. and they kept playing it over again. We both laughed, and the the infamous line "I think we'll skip the song Bob" was born. We've handled a lot of life's hiccups (large and small) with laughter and skipping the song. Some of our challenges maybe should've been faced with more laughter and skipping the song a little quicker.. but it's typically been how we've handled them- laughing through them and then letting them go and moving on. ❤ I thank you for being my greatest adventure-- spending and doing life with you is the best! This is the Face of a woman who simply said "yes" to God when He gently nudged her in the direction He wanted her to go. He surrounded her with support- tangibly and intangibly- and put people in her life who will help bring her calling to pass. While it seems crazy it was an easy yes! This is me. With all my flaws, shortcomings and stupidity.. BUT GOD can take my stupidity & use it to create wisdom, He takes a heart that was full of sin and shame & gently guides it to repentance. He takes an ordinary girl that says a little yes and works extraordinary miracles. <~ That's what my God does! If you're feeling hopeless I want you to know there is hope in Jesus. If you're feeling helpless there is Help in Jesus. If you're feeling bound by shame- there is FREEDOM in Jesus. No matter what the problem- JESUS is the solution. If God can do this for me... HE CAN MOST CERTAINLY DO IT FOR YOU-- Just say Yes God- I surrender my will and ways to you. Then say yes to the next right thing. This faith journey has been the most fulfilling when I said yes. So I pray that today and everyday moving forward is nothing but a series of yeses. I'm marking it down 5-15-21, the day I choose to commit to my yeses without hesitation-no matter how ridiculous & undignified I might look. No matter how difficult the yes might be, I'm desperate to help free the hearts of the bound- and if it takes me looking even more crazy-- That's ok- I'm saying yes to Him! Here I am Lord, use me. ❤️

In July I turn 49. Pretty sure that I started writing and recording my hip hop album while I was going through menopause. Some people might say that me pursuing my dreams at this age is a #midlifecrisis I call it a #midlifemiracle The fact that when many people are beginning to slow life down.. I'm just getting started! I guess like Sarah laughed when God said she would be birthing a baby in her old age-- many might be laughing that I'm birthing something out of the ordinary. I get it, it's a little different but still a miracle to me! That God would see fit to start something new when most people my age are finishing what they started. Maybe you feel like your course has been run... God is just getting started! Hear me out-- DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE GOD! He's the God of the underdog-- David & Goliath, Shadrach, Meshach & Obednego, let's not forget Jesus on the cross where it looked like all was lost and the battle was over-- BUT HE ROSE UP! Can I tell you that today you might feel like all is lost.. like you've run into a giant everyone is afraid of, feeling forced into a furnace 7x's hotter, or like your situation is dead and gone... GOD IS A GOD OF THE UNDERDOG! Keep stepping in obedience & leave the outcome to HIM! They might see you as an underdog but when it's over they gonna notice that you're under God! You ain't scared they try to stop you, but here's the kicker-- they think their Giants big--- BUT OUR GOD IS BIGGER!

That one time when I was at @thewellsummit and we were having dinner. Getting to know others and the typical "What do you do?" turned into an impromptu moment.. When you're 48, telling people you're a motivational speaker, author, counselor & life coach is totally expected. But the minute I add "rapper" it seems surprising. 🤷🏼♀️ It's not unusual to be second guessed-- and I LOVE it because it makes it more fun! My fave thing is seeing/hearing people's reactions when I drop a bar! I realize that it's more about my age than my talent & that doesn't matter to me. It's really about bringing a smile to someone's face! ❤️ With songs like #ImmaGoldDigger it's even more shocking (but it's a positive twist to the derogatory label). These women didn't know what to expect-- and their support before I even started is an example of how women should support one another. But the group reaction will likely be one of my fave memories ever! @kpayneb I love that you expected a snap with a rhyme! I've only been rapping two years.. it's been an adventure that I'm loving. Exactly one year apart. Side by side comparison... they look almost identical. The one on the left Dec 29,2019 on the right Dec 29,2020. The 365 days in between had sloth-paced changes, yet at the same time so many fast changes it felt they defied time/sound/gravity! The girl on the right doesn't look much different to the girl on the left but those 365 days brought so much growth. The girl on the left was confident & comfortable, living on the edge according to her terms, leaning in to the challenges she chose. The girl on the right has more confidence than ever (in Christ) and is more uncomfortable as she has leaned into things that were out totally of her control and not by her own choosing. She reluctantly said yes to things she wanted to say no to & grateful for the race that got her so thirsty she had to go to the ONLY place she new would quench her thirst- the true and living water! Small changes add up and eventually create something bigger. So while you may not see it-- don't be deceived into thinking this is the same woman. Because the one on the right-- she's coming out in 2021 with a vengeance! The eyes they are the same.. but they see things differently. Over the next few months my feeds, stories and posts are going to begin to reveal the internal transformation. While I LOVE to have fun (and you'll still see plenty of that). You're used to seeing this girl! Happy, smiling and digging for gold in everything and everyone. ;) I'm just like you navigating 2020, and with that comes the feels. Many are feeling a heavy heart. But feel the need to pretend like they aren't. They're afraid to be real to expose what they deeply feel! I refuse to add to the toxic narrative that life should feel/be/look perfect all of the time. We can't pretend problems don't exist in hopes that they will go away. We can't. Because they won't. God gave us emotions for a purpose-- we must feel them and not stuff them... but also not follow them- they aren't our Guide, the Holy Spirit is. Our emotions aren't our GPS but a check engine light. If we see the warning signal light up on our dash but choose to ignore it, you're gonna end up on the side of the road some where broke down. I don't want to contribute to someone being stuck on the side of the road because I posted an "insta-perfect" world and made you believe life should be awesome all the time. Life isn't awesome all the time.. but God is! :) In James 1:2-4 the bible says to "Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way." Counting it all joy aka considering it a sheer gift, doesn't mean try to make trials feel good. It just means good will come out of it! Our faith is being revealed-- and when we allow God to do the work He wants to do through the challenges we're facing, we will end up mature and well-developed on the other side of the trial! Basically it's a spiritual workout-- resistance makes us stronger! Motherhood is simply a series of love, lessons & letting go (More on that later) He is both wise and still learning. He is kind, witty, charismatic, gifted, influential and loving. You know right from wrong.. we don’t expect perfection but progression. Progress often first appears as failure. Allow yourself missteps, mistakes & falls... make them your greatest teachers. The only real failure is not getting back up. Sit long enough to get your bearings then get up dust yourself off & get back to living! Grace, humility, grit & service will take you farther than any amount of money, fancy title, false flattery or worldly achievement ever could. Be generous with grace. Live a life of humility (not thinking less of yourself but thinking of yourself less). ALWAYS find ways to serve others (Jesus was the greatest master yet came to serve). Believe it or not, very soon you’ll find profound life lessons in the mundane. Your spiritual eyes will see the messages in ordinary moments & things... including shoelaces (but you already know that 😂) Now is your time. Set the world on fire. Fill each room with love, laughter & joy. Use your powerful gift with words to fuel the lives of others! You’re strong. You’re wise. You’re grown. You’re off to follow the path that God has set before you. Never forget who you are, where you came from & that no matter where you are & what you’re doing, you are always a Mutlu & most important, you are always a child of the most high! You’re filled with a “right now” purpose. 2 Tim 4:12 Be a reflection of the beauty you want to see in this world. Be a reflection of the values you’ve been taught. To the girl who feels like it has to happen NOW... This is my 20 yr old self—who thought I had to “make it” right now! I had a right now attitude... and that attitude stole my joy. You may be saying “But Holly you don’t understand...” Oh but I do! I get it. The urgency. The desire. The call.. to make it happen NOW! There’s something burning in the pit of your stomach a stirring in your spirit that says “Now is all I’ve got!” You’re absolutely right! Right now is all you have.. so quit wasting it on the should’s... I should be there already I should have done that I should not have done this I should be somewhere other than where I am... I should be better than this. The case of the “should‘s” is robbing you the joy in your now! Now is all you got so take the step to get you to where you want to go and enjoy this moment right here right now. Before you know it... if you continue with your series of steps and moments, eventually you will find yourself right where you wanted to be all along.. and you allowed yourself the freedom to enjoy the journey! Today I lept into 48 like a 16 yr old leaps into their first car— Full of excitement, enthusiasm, adventure and life— ready to put the pedal to the metal!! Some people dread getting older. While it does have its’ challenges, the experiences, memories and loved ones are worth it all! When I hit my 40’s something in me shifted. My spirit came alive! By 43 I had made MAJOR changes and was finally ready to fully pursue my dreams! At 46 I wrote and released my first book. At 47 I wrote and recorded my first Christian Hip Hop album.. I can’t even begin to imagine what God is gonna do in my life at 48... all I know is that up until age 40 I was the lid to my limitations. I am no longer a lid and I believe 💯 that anything is possible! Listen up— Don’t let them tell you that you’re too old, too young, too loud, too quiet, too timid, too bold, too little or too much! God created you and knowing that, you should understand that you’re here for a purpose and you better believe He knew that the world needed your gifts! When you’re comfortable in your skin and are walking in obedience utilizing those very gifts he gave you— no one can convince you that you can’t— oh they might tell you, but you’re not concerned with their doubt-filled opinions because you’re overflowing with faith and purpose! I no longer worry about the big picture— I’m being obedient in this moment and with every step I continue to live out the call on my life. Sometimes it’s a step and sometimes it’s a leap— Today I lept into 48 and only God knows what adventures await.. Every day is a gift and I’m going to enjoy the presents/presence! Sometimes I overthink. All the thoughts run through my head like a hamster on a wheel— spinning nonstop and not getting me anywhere. The what if’s, the should’ve and if only’s... and then I realize I can’t control the thoughts that come into my head but I do decide if they can live there... I’ve got no room for the what if’s, the should’ve and if only’s... So I pop in my AirPods and boot those thoughts out- by feeding my head and my spirit with faith-filled, positive praise tunes. Lately I’ve found that loud music, a long walk and talk with God is all I need to drown out the chaos. It’s Monday and I’m already celebrating! In less than two years I had 3 foot surgeries (one included a plate and five pins/screws). My last foot surgery was a year ago in Aug. So here I am a year later.. WALKING and kinda normal too (I have a slight catch but not sure anyone would notice). I’ve been walking over 10k steps a day.. Y’all there were days over the course of three years that I didn’t even hit 1k. So I’m stoked to be “walking”.. I honestly thought I’d never run again.. the other night when waiting to cross the street a car waved me ahead.. trying to be considerate I thought I’d try a slight jog— and I DID IT!!! So the next night I’m out on my walk and I decided to try to jog— And I did it!! It may not have looked pretty, easy or smooth but I did it! I literally almost cried I was so happy! So I snapped a few pics of my moment of celebration. You might be facing a setback today.. It was a wonderful night and of course we’re all smiles— but the evening wasn’t smooth sailing. My bladder was like a highly skilled NBA player— dribbling... a lot! We spend so much time planning and preparing for the future we miss the magic of the moment. Joy is in the small moments. Chasing happiness never ends. How do you know you’re chasing happiness? If you’re saying to yourself I’ll be happy when... I get out of school When I get married When I get divorced When I get my dream job When I lose some weight When I have kids When my kids are grown When I catch up with my bills When I finally _________ (fill in the blank). Why wait until then when you can find joy in this moment!?! Our lives are made up of a series of little moments— the milestones are markers but the joy lies in the moments. A baby’s giggle A glass of lemonade on the front porch during a rainstorm Holding the hand of a loved one A call from an old friend A hug A Smile A walk in nature Your dog greeting you when you walk in the door An “I love you” from your teen Playing superhero’s with your son Having a tea party with your daughter Enjoying a book in the quiet A dance party in your living room Watching the sunset All these little moments of joy create a life full of joy! Don’t forget to live in these moments and be present!
It’s so much easier to complete the challenge when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel! If you don’t see it yet, keep pushing on.. you’ll get a glimpse and that will encourage you on your journey! When you can really see the light at the end of the tunnel you begin to celebrate because you know you’re almost there— even though it might be a bit of a distance away, you can see it—- and that makes it so much easier to push on through! Your situation is just like that glass of water-- not half full or half empty but OVERFLOWING-- just because you cannot see the solution, doesn't mean that it doesn't exist-- you just can't see it (YET!). That's the importance of FAITH! When your faith is activated, it doesn't matter what you see but it's what you KNOW to be true. When your faith is activated, it doesn't matter what you see but it's what you KNOW to be true. "Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it." Hebrews 11:1 (New Century Version) Whatever it is that you're facing today-- know that just because you don't see the outcome, doesn't mean that there isn't one-- it's just going to be in God's perfect timing-- so ACTIVATE your faith! When you do so, you're trusting God's perfect plan before you even know what it is!
They say there are two types of people-- Those that see the glass half full and those that see it half empty. Which one are you? Maybe you're neither. Perhaps you see the glass as overflowing. It's not about an optimistic or negative mindset but rather living out your faith! When you look at the glass through your natural eyes, you see the water and what's missing... but when you look at the glass through the eyes of activated faith, you know that there's more to it than meets the eye! While the glass is half full/empty with water.. even though you may not see it, the glass is actually overflowing with air! When you activate your faith, it's not about what you see, but what you know to be true. When you view life through activated faith, you live beyond what your circumstances look like-- You're trusting the Goodness of God, knowing that He is at work on your behalf even when you can't see it! #GlassHalfFull #GlassHalfEmpty #GlassOverflowing #GodsGoodness

Psssssssst! Girl, you're beautiful! We tend to look at our imperfections... and those imperfections blind us to the beauty that lies within us. However, if you could see yourself through the eyes of God, you'd be blinded by the beauty that He's given you! Today I want you to take another look in the mirror... See beyond the imperfections to the beauty. I'm not talking just physical beauty but the beauty that runs deep beneath the surface. Is it your kindness and warmth that others feel in your presence? Is it the way you fill the room with joy the moment you enter? Is it the way others feel comforted and loved by you? Is it the way you make others feel noticed and valued? There is a gift and a beauty that God has given YOU to share with the world.. please don't get so blinded by your imperfections that you forget to utilize the gift you were given to bless those in your world! We need you! Your gift is a unique spark that will shine brightly in the darkness. If everyone would generously and selflessly share their gifts, the world would be a much brighter place.
I found this in my phone- a note from 2015 & thought I’d share it for the one going through a turbulent time today. ☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☁️☀️ I am currently on a flight. My son who hates to fly as much as I used to, is sitting next to me & we have hit a bit of turbulence. We are in the thick clouds and cant see much at all. The turbulence is dropping us super fast as we hit bumps... It can be very scary. All we can do is trust the pilot that he knows what he is doing. And does the pilot do? He just announced He is taking us to a higher level. We rise up above the thick dense clouds out of the turbulence. Now all I see is the beautiful sun & I'm fascinated at the beauty from up here. No longer am I concerned with the bumpy ride below because I am focussed on what is above- the SON! How often in our lives do we allow ourselves to be rocked by turbulent times & go into panic mode? because all we feel is the unstable winds around us? We look outside the window & can't see through the thick clouds and we freak out because we don't have control of the plane of life we are riding in. The Holy Spirit says "Come with me I want to take you to a higher place where if you focus on the son you will find peace and the ride will be smoother." I'm now above the clouds, staring at the sun. I do not see the clouds with worry or fear but instead I marvel at them. I made it through them & now I clearly see the glorious son. Sure, this ride won't last forever because I have to get to my next destination but while I'm up here I'm going to get as close as I can to Him So on the days when it’s hiding behind the clouds, i can remind myself that although I can’t see Him, He is there in all its majestic glory. I know there’ll be another day soon,that I will see it again. So for now, I'm gonna soak up all I can & bask in its beautiful presence... I wouldn’t have gone higher if it weren’t for the turbulence. I would’ve remained at the same level & never experienced the glorious view from up here... As you hit bumps today, trust the pilot. He will take you above the turbulence... & you’ll realize that W/out the bumps you’d never have risen to see the view of the son from here.

I’m not one to shy away from a camera or a great mirror with a photo op.... But you know what I have been shying away from? Sharing! I’ve been so scared of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time— so I’ve been holding back my message of joy because I don’t want to appear insensitive. The other day I was having a conversation with a peer and she told me “Holly the world needs to hear the message of joy and hope...” she went on to say “your message doesn’t dismiss pain or try to stuff it down— you remind us that in the midst of all that pain we can still experience true Joy that only comes from the Father!” So here I am stepping out to remind you that while you might be experiencing pain, you can STILL have joy at the same time! God never told us we would be without pain— in fact he told us that we WOULD have pain in this world, and then he added the most important part.. “BUT” (when there is a but in the middle of a sentence it negates the first half) “Take heart, I have overcome the world!” Not only has He overcome the world but He promised He would never leave. “I’m so excited & I just can’t hide it! Imma ‘bout to lose control and I think I like it!” -The Pointer Sisters, Circa 1983 I’m feeling all sortsa Joy— ecstatic, delighted, blissful, elated, jovial & just plain tickled pink! Yesterday we officially launched my new designs & online merch store & today I’m already shipping things out! What!?!? 🙌🏼 I’m so grateful for the support for my lil’ ole’ biz. I haven’t really shared publicly but at the end of last year I had shifted from coaching/counseling to focus on live events in 2020 (speaking and/or rapping). Y’all there were some crazy opportunities lined up! I knew in order to keep harmony in my life, I had to scale back on clients. I was taking the next step- shifting from one on one to live events. I ADORE my clients & working with them 1:1, but I’ve always felt called to make an impact from the mic. 2020 appeared to be THEE YEAR! Then covid hit. Everything changed. Real talk— I hit a funk for a bit— couldn’t bring myself to post. I tried. But didn’t post much. I had to sort through my emotions, thoughts & feelings. Not only were we quarantined but ALL those open doors slammed shut in an instant. It felt like I was so close to my dreams becoming a reality & outta nowhere POOF- it was gone! Here’s the beauty. Gods timing is PERFECT! His provision has been crazy miraculous. I’m seeing His hand at work everywhere. God’s ways are so much higher than mine & He’s never failed me! I’d been wanting to set up an online shop- my merch goes crazy fast at events but I never had the time! Covid gave me the time & here we are— Officially launched YESTERDAY! I’m already packaging & shipping today. You can get yours #linkinbio I don’t know when live events will happen again & I don’t know what God has in store for me. But I’m gonna keep on keeping on.. walking with Him every step of the way & trusting Him FULLY with it all! He never will never fail me. As long as I’ve got Him, I’ve got all that I need. In His presence there is fullness of joy— it’s the joy of the Lord that’s my strength! My prayer is that these clothes will speak to ❤️‘s & brighten your days! Real change, positive change, can’t happen until WE are truthful. Some of the biggest lies we believe come from within our own heads. Whether it’s thoughts from our flesh or listening to whispers from the enemy. If we want truth it starts within oneself. Here’s the thing though, when we share a potentially painful truth with a loved one, we approach it gently, using wisdom. Shouldn’t we approach truth telling to ourselves the same way? Too often we talk so harshly to ourselves that if we heard someone else say the same thing to us, we’d hear the cruelty and find offense-- but when we speak that way to ourselves we don’t hear the harshness. Worse yet, we actually BELIEVE the lies! When we deliver truth to ourselves, shouldn’t we offer the same grace that we would offer others? Try to show more grace and kindness to yourself as you’re getting honest.. just getting honest with yourself is a huge win— Celebrate that growth!

“Do these pants make my thighs look big?” I ask my husband this all the time. For the first few years he would tell me they didn’t (when they actually DID) because he didn’t want to hurt my feelings. Eventually I told him, “Listen, I don’t want to walk around wearing pants that actually don’t look good on me! So please tell me the truth if I look fat in them!” This was soooooooo hard for him. He never wants to say anything that would hurt someone, especially his wife. But after this conversation he realized that I wanted and needed to know the truth even if it might sting a bit. The beauty is that my husband is brilliant— he created the best response ever to this catch22 question. Now when I ask him and they don’t enhance my figure, he responds with “They make you look bigger than you actually are.” HUSBANDS take note of that response! :) The bottom line, telling the truth is priceless. Proverbs 27:6 – “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Would you rather hear the truth from a loved, even if it hurts or would you rather someone tickle your ears and ego with lies?
Sometimes ya just need a break away from reality to recharge. Is there a better way than in nature with family? I think not. . . But don’t let the instapics fool ya.. there were moments of getting snippy (I was driving, we didn’t know where restaurants were, skiing— that’s a whole life lesson right there). Fortunately there were many more smiles than there were snips 😉 A great day of fun in the sun- feeling so recharged and refreshed after just one day! What’s your go-to day of recharging?
You’re used to seeing me smile. Like many of you my heart has been heavy & my smile has been distant. . At almost 48 years old I can tell you that I don’t know a lot. The older I get the more I realize there’s more I don’t know.. . I’ve avoided posting for so many reasons... I’ve written countless posts that all end up deleted—Not because I don’t care but because I care so much I fear saying the wrong thing. I want to be a part of the solution but what if my words are ignorant or come off as insensitive? I don’t know the right words.. So many things on so many levels that I just. don’t. know. BUT there is ONE thing that I’m certain of & I KNOW that I KNOW it to be true. God is still on His throne & is STILL working behind the scenes. NOTHING is too small for Him to care for or too large for Him to fix. HE is the ONLY ONE that can take all this stuff & use it for our good & His glory! HE is the ONLY one that can take our messes & turn them into messages! HE is the ONLY thing that can change EVERYTHING.. but He won’t force Himself upon us. He is a God of free will. This change we want/need to experience.. this REVIVAL we want to happen, the simple request of kindness and decency in humanity.. unity. It starts by healing the heart of man and replacing it with the heart of God. So It’s time for me to head back to my prayer closet.. I want to help but I can’t help heal the world’s heart if my own is full of infection, confused & broken. I only know one place to start— and that’s with my Heavenly Daddy. So God— I’m gonna start right here right now. I know my heart needs cleaned up so that I can better love & serve others. Let me heal so I can hear beyond my hurt & see beyond my pain & limitations. Let me NOT point fingers but Lord let change start with me. If there is anything in my heart that is unholy reveal it.. “Create in me a new clean heart oh God, filled with clean thoughts and right desires. Don’t toss me aside, banished forever from your presence. Don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me AGAIN the JOY OF YOUR SALVATION and make me WILLING to obey you. Psalm 51:10-19 This is my prayer. Let me be the change you called me to be.

Do you enjoy your comfort zone? 🙋 In a lot of ways, when I’m in my routine and my “normal” I feel like I thrive. But often just because I feel like I’m thriving doesn’t mean that I am. By living in my comfort zone I’m limiting the life of abundance and creativity and experiences that God has for me. So often I will feel pain because it’s the only thing that will nudge me out of my comfort zone into exploring new opportunities. I remember in 2015 when I was the associate pastor for a wonderful growing church. I began experiencing panic attacks after not having had them for years. The Lord was calling me into something new but I was so comfortable in my role as associate pastor, I loved the people of our church— not to mention our lead pastor and his wife. I knew the Lord was calling me into someplace else but I was so afraid. I was afraid of hurting people, I was afraid of what this new call would be. So I stayed. I overstayed. I wasn’t obedient and when I’m not obedient I experience anxiety… So eventually the pain of staying the same became greater than the perceived pain of change. Ironically, when I stepped out into that new call and was obedient, I never felt more free! All the things I worried about, God strategically took care of! Lessons were learned not only by me, but by the ones who were impacted by this change. God used it ALL for our good and His Glory! Just like He says! Share this if it encouraged you!
