This morning we went to check out @artofthebrickexpo by @nathansawaya - one of Netty’s LEGO heroes…what an amazing and emotional collection of LEGO art this is 💜 So beautifully displayed, the lighting and inmmersive videos & music just enhanced all these gorgeous pieces of art. We’re planning to go back as we were just in awe of the creativity and the whole exhibition. It helped that we went on a mid week morning so not too many folk there to allow us to enjoy the spaces and reflect on each build. Hier, j'ai emmené Garry à l'exposition "The Art of the Brick" de Nathan Sawaya à Paris (car il est passionné de Lego et de musées). Il était super enthousiaste à l'idée d'y aller. J'avoue que de mon côté j'imaginais des constructions en Lego énormes qui allaient certainement m'impressionner par leur taille mais ça s'arrêtait là. Jamais je n'ai pensé pouvoir y voir de l'Art au sens propre. Je me suis trompée. Au-delà de la beauté de certaines pièces (mention spéciale à la salle consacrée au corps humain), j'ai été extrêmement touchée par certaines œuvres et par le message qu'a voulu transmettre l'artiste, jusqu'à en avoir les larmes aux yeux. Je pense qu'il faut les voir "en vrai" pour ressentir cette puissance (bon c'est vrai que je suis aussi très sensible, c'est sûrement également à prendre en compte). J'ai quand même choisi quelques photos pour vous donner envie d'y aller (de mémoire c'est jusqu'au 12 mai). Les petites explications données par l'artiste lui-même à côté de chacune de ses œuvres étaient très instructives et m'ont interpellée. Non Nathan Sawaya n'est pas un constructeur de Lego, c'est un véritable artiste. J'ai aimé cette revanche sur la vie qu'il nous offre. J'ai aimé sa façon de traiter ses sujets. J'ai aimé certaines de ses œuvres que j'ai trouvées absolument sublimes. J'ai aimé les ombres sur les murs. J'ai aimé sentir la générosité de l'homme derrière ce travail. Mais ce que j'ai aimé par dessus tout, ce sont les message transmis. Et je me suis dit que l'intention dépasse parfois l'œuvre elle-même.
