It’s a classic Friday #otFLEXky doubleheader. And I didn’t get my second run in yesterday cause I was so tired, I took a nap instead. I’m smiling here but I’m still pretty tired. Yesterday afternoon, I drove to the grocery store, sat in the car for 5 minutes and then turned around and went back home without even getting out the car. I just couldn’t bear peopling. I did not PR but I did notch my 4th fastest mile at 7:44. I was so focused on the 7:05, I didn’t even realize I could’ve beat my March time. I won’t lie, I was a bit bummed until I discovered I had the fastest female mile of class. So that was a nice consolation! Back to the grind. I don’t know if I’ll ever hit that PR again, my goals are a bit different these days. But I’ll keep trying always! Due to my own bullshit and weather, I had to split my 16 miler. 8 miles down in Orangetheory and I’ll go back out for another 8 this afternoon after I finish work. Get it by any means necessary! The 2g class was hype af and I was yelling “let’s go! Let’s go!” to my tread mates and the woman on tread 8 looked at me in the mirror and said “I’m with you!” And we all just kept pushing. I was singing aloud with between chants of “hold on” mostly to myself but my tread mates were looking me in the eyes and matching my effort. At the end of the tread block, Coach John saluted my leadership and leading the tread team to victory. I was just having some goofy fun to distract from the hard efforts. My third run of the day was actually a brisk 4 mile walk on my favorite trail with my old housemate, @jshack26! We haven’t seen each other in ages, so it was nice to catch up and share how wonderful life’s been treating us both lately. I dnf’ed at 140 miles! I had 3 hours to do the next 10 miles and that loop took me 3.75 hours in the daylight. I wasn’t paying attention to the 7a cutoff for 150 miles. Don’t cry for me though, I had THE BEST few days and I will certainly be back for my buckle next year. I learned a lot about race and time management and next time I’m definitely bringing some crew and a pacer. I’ve showered, I’m gonna sleep and have a nice breakfast. I’m officially on vacation until 4/10! And today was my last day on my current team. I join a new team when I get back from One Big Holiday! But before that fun, I’m headed down to Atlanta to attempt, I mean FUCKING COMPLETE the Canebrake 200. I’m currently trying to figure out what I’m going to need (besides spite, grit and some ovaries of steel) to get through 200 miles in 96 hours. I’ve already lined up my phone-a-friends, warning them to expect teary, incoherent calls from me when shit gets really tough. Strangely enough I’m not nervous, I’m super excited to go suffer well for four days. That was so much fun! We had our mile benchmark today and I’m nowhere near my PR speed (7:02) but I decided to go for it and hit 8.6mph and held on for dear life for half a mile. I pulled back and settled in and kept steadily increasing back to 7.5mph to end with a 7:39. It was a great improvement over the 9:08 I ran at the start of our transformation challenge 12 weeks ago. Well, the universe winked at me hard this morning! I set out late for my run and decided to hit up Legacy at the last minute. About 1.5 miles in, who do I literally run right into? None other than my old boss man, Brennan! We joined forces for 3.5 miles of catching up. He definitely can still push me and I ran all the damn hills trying to keep up with him.
