RECORD BREAKER! Brooke Tanner, a senior out of Lucedale, MS., set the new all time record for runs scored for @williamcareysb . Tanner tied the record with a run in game 1 against Blue Mountain on Saturday. She would then break the record with 3 more runs in game 2. Brooke broke the previous record of 168, which was shared by Jeana Erickson (2008-11) and Casey Alexander (2009-12). Along with the two runs scored in Mondays games, Brooke now sits on 173 overall and will plan on adding more in the final stretch of their season. SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR! The SSAC released their 2024 Barnes & Noble College Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete Team this afternoon. The highlight of which was William Carey University Women’s Basketball’s own Lauren Rowley being named Scholar Athlete of the Year. Rowley, a senior biology major, boasts a 3.94 GPA and was named an SSAC First Team All-Conference selection. She averaged 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists during the season. Both Kolten Blakeney & Lauren Rowley were named to the Scholar-Athlete team. Both girls were All-Conference selections and can now add Scholar-Athletes to their list of accolades. To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must: - Be a sophomore in status. - Must be a key player for your team. - Have at least a 3.3 GPA. - Competed in 50% of contests. ATHLETES OF THE WEEK! Royan Walters and Zaniyah Wilson have both been named SSAC Field Athlete of the Week. Both won their award for their performances at the South Alabama Invite last week. Wilson placed 3rd in the triple jump with a jump of 11.42m. This mark ranks first in the SSAC. Walters hit the NAIA “A” qualifying mark, and placed 1st, in both the Long jump, hitting 7.56m, and the triple jump, hitting 15.15m. Walters won both events and both marks lead the NAIA in their respective events. Do you want to be in control of your day. Have calm focus, be your most consistent, creative, and confident. It starts with focus and intention. Time blocking is the secret to your success. Single tasks allotted for a specific amount of time. Studies show 40% of your day is spent multitasking. There is good/low level multitasking. Listening to a podcast while you get your steps in. Folding laundry while watching tv. And there is high level/bad multitasking. Checking your email while on a conference call. Scrolling social media while making an important work or life decision. You are less creative, distracted, and efficient. I find I am at my most creative and effective especially in the mornings when I time block and focus on a single task at a time. No distractions or task switching. It’s not perfect I ebb and flow often. But I try to keep it simple, easy, and hold myself accountable. Do you time block your day? Start small. 1 task for 15 minutes with a timer. See how it goes and grow that habit and get 1% better. Watch as you become the most confident, calm, consistent version of yourself.
