The inimitable #ttscoutpants Wet and scrunched and hung out to dry. It’s been impossible to get a picture of them until now! They’re a big success with the recipient, especially the colour- its an Indonesian, batik dyed pure cotton. Scout pants! ➡️ Not i n f l u e n c e d by @elephantinthestudy but more like bewitched and compelled.. Details: #scoutpants from @twigandtale Sewn in Ghanaian wax print light weight cotton. I choose age 4 and they are quite big- obviously children vary so much! I’m happy they’re roomy so we can get a couple of years wear out of them *. Mods: shortened elastic insert by 7-10 cm and rolled the hems up so they can be unpicked later to make them longer again. The waistband was pieced together due to limited fabric Good stuff: I really really like this pattern, mainly cause it made me feel very accomplished. I found it very easy and straightforward- the instructions have the right amount of details (not too much, not too little) and are very clear. The finishing is really nice on these. The pockets are what really make them o think- next ones will be in contrast. Issues: no issues other than sewing late at night hurts my eyes- the standard of the topstitching definitely correlates to the time of night it was sewn. My machine is acting up so I had to switch to the old one - that has no zig zag stitch. But perfection is the enemy of good! Summer Holidays ☀ Here in New Zealand there is definitely a hazy period between Christmas Day and New Years. Maybe this happens in other places around the world too? Maybe it is just a Southern hemisphere, summer Christmas thing? It's a period where time doesn't quite exist, you don't need to think much about cooking due to leftovers, kids are occupied with their presents etc... Christmas is at home by ourselves this year. No travelling involved, so my sewing equipment and I will be together - yay! What better way to fill that delicious period than with some lovely sewing. Fabric is purchased and washed. Patterns are printed, and the sewing queue is organised - even have matching thread ready! Are YOU planning any sewing over this period? What are your plans? My first #TwigAndTale make!! Miss 4 1/2 loves her new #ScoutPants even if I did make them half a size too big (I was going to grade between a size 4 and size 5 but then I just kind of forgot, oops). She chose the rainbow patch from the shop, I couldn’t resist adding some rainbows on the other pocket too 🌈 I used thread I already had (almost perfect match on the brown) and medium weight corduroy fabric, with a bit of stretch, I’d bought a while ago from a charity/2nd hand store.
