This is 40! I have never felt better at 40 than I have in any other season of my life! I lived a great life as a little girl growing up in California. In my adolescent years I was always a comedian. Challenging myself in sports and striving to be the best. As a young adult, I cared about being skinny and liked by all. I knew nothing. I enjoyed no responsibilities, and took advantage of being charismatic. In my 20s I was without children. I thought I knew everything. Had a great job, doing what I loved with people I loved. But, life wasn't about depth of character or being strong, it was about fun. In my early 30s I aged a lot. I became codependent, and unhealthy. I focused energy on everyone by myself, caring only about the needs of others instead of my own. In my late 30s I realized I was clueless, and was humbled. I pulled my shit together. I started reading, listening and surrounding myself with better people than myself. I dedicated my life to working out and pushing myself to be better. Now, I'm stepping into the best time of my life. I've realized that not knowing is ok, as long as we strive to learn. I'm finally reaping the benefits of my hardwork. I'm jazzed about my career, I'm happy with my marriage and family, I'm constantly working to stay healthy. Good morning and happy Thursday! Humility is important… when your in a leadership position it is even more important… we need to ensure that we are demonstrating humility to those we lead… leadership by example… leadership by example is the most effective form of leadership in my humble opinion… Tuesday at 5pm I made three epic mistakes in a row… and I had to work u til about 11 pm to get things back in order for the client for the next day… in my morning standup with my guys I first told them I screwed up… then I laid out what I did and asked if they could spot my mistakes… then we discussed in detail the wrong choices I made and what led to the epic mistake and what they can do to not make the same mistake I made… 20 years ago I probably would have said I screwed up and left it at that… but I excoriated my mistakes in great detail to both show them that we all make mistakes but to also give them the opportunity to learn from my mistake and to perhaps avoid six hours of additional work to repair the damage I did… this call came in at the end of the day and I was like sure I’ll knock it out quickly… I did exactly what they asked me to do… and on the surface it felt simple enough… but once again we always have to distinguish between a symptom and a root cause… doing exactly what is on the ticket is a good way to shoot yourself in the foot…. When you get on scene you need to observe what is going on and you need to determine for yourself what is a symptom vs what is the root cause… do your own thinking… don’t just be on autopilot… engage your brain… Learn from your mistakes and give others a chance to learn from your mistakes as well… and as always stay humble or be humbled… The tools of the day are the @irwintools speedbor bit and the @milwaukeetool m12 impact driver… #leadership #stayhumble #leadbyexample #shareyourstory #irwintools #milwaukeetools #toolsofthetrade #stayhumbleorbehumbled #lead #impact

This morning at Gold's as I try to incorporate weight training to help me always keep my hands up higher at my cheekbones and leg exercises to develop my leg strength for my new #CusDAmato style boxing stance and explosiveness. Love the hard work ethic in this gym! So proud of everyone. ~ I can’t stand when bjj schools or boxing schools or karate schools preach that they teach self defense! Now….!… some things can be used AS self defense but the daily drilling in each of those sports is designed for that.. the sport, not for self defense. We train our students to be able to handle any situation.. Whether they want to be able to be a professional kickboxer, grappler, MMA fighter or just want to be able to whoop someone who tries to put their hands on them they will be able to!
