I personally love networking and meeting new people but I know that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. If there’s one takeaway from all the things I’ve learned about networking, it’s this one: When it comes to building a solid network, choose quality over quantity! Instead of going wide with your net, try a different approach by going deep with the people already in your corner. Have meaningful conversations instead of making small talk and just brushing the surface-level: check-in proactively, follow up on last conversation, build on last meeting, ask open-ended questions, offer words of encouragement, consume and engage with their content, etc. You don’t always need to meet more people but instead develop more meaningful relationships. As you can imagine, being a new mom and a newly single mom, saying this mama was “a bit busy and stressed” would be an understatement. She had every excuse in the world to continue to let her health habits continue to fall by the wayside - exhausted, too busy, lawyer fees, etc…But she was DETERMINED that now was the time to invest in herself. She wanted to ensure that as a solo parent she was the BEST, most energetic and present mother or her son. She remembered what it felt like to be fit and healthy and she knew that the best version of herself was waiting for her there. So she took action in the face of all the chaos in her life. Now, in the short months we’ve been together, not only has she shed inches and gained physical strength by learning to show up for herself consistenetly, but she has also landed a new and better job to support herself and her son! What she shares is so beautiful: “Since joining IFA almost 6 months ago I’ve become a stronger version of myself, mentally and physically. Working Mom 👩🏽💻💼☕️ Da ich am Wochenende endlich etwas Zeit hatte, die Eindrücke meines ersten Arbeitstages zu verarbeiten, folgt heute endlich der ausführliche Bericht meines Wiedereinstiegs in das Arbeitsleben. Um eins schon einmal vorwegzunehmen: Es kam alles anders als erwartet! Für diejenigen unter euch, die es nicht wissen: Letzte Woche Donnerstag hatte ich nach einem Jahr Elternzeit meinen allerersten Arbeitstag und arbeite nun vorerst für drei Monate wieder in Vollzeit, während mein Mann zuhause in Elternzeit ist und die Betreuung unserer gemeinsamen Tochter übernimmt. Einige Tage vor meinem ersten Arbeitstag begann bei mir aber bereits das Gedankenkarussell: Ist es zu früh? Wird mein Baby mich vermissen? Wird der Papa die Betreuung ganz alleine meistern? 😵💫 Ich habe versucht, diese Gedanken so gut es ging beiseite zu schieben und alles einfach erstmal auf mich zukommen zu lassen. Doch am Morgen meines ersten Arbeitstages haben mich die Gefühle überwältigt und ich musste beim Abschied von meinem Mädchen ein paar Tränchen vergießen. 🥲 Liyana hingegen schien das Alles überhaupt nicht zu stören, denn sie fühlte sich bei ihrem Papa pudelwohl. Auch während meiner Zeit im Büro, hatten die beiden eine tolle gemeinsame Zeit. Sie spielten, aßen, gingen Einkaufen und Spazieren und sogar die gefürchtete Einschlafbegleitung hat auf einmal ganz wunderbar geklappt. 😳 Mich hingegen hatte der Trubel des Arbeitsalltags ganz schnell wieder. 🫠 Zum Glück habe ich in meinem Job die Möglichkeit, am Nachmittag Homeoffice zu machen, so dass ich - auch wenn ich natürlich arbeiten muss - zumindest nicht den ganzen Tag weg von Zuhause bin. Zurück zuhause konnte ich mir dann selbst ein Bild von der tollen Betreuung meines Mannes machen und habe schnell bemerkt, wie unbegründet all meine vorherigen Sorgen waren. Einzig und allein das Thema Essen ist und bleibt ein Problem. Liyana war schon immer eine schlechte Esserin, und das hat sich auch unter der Betreuung meines Mannes nicht geändert. Deshalb wird sie vorerst nachmittags und abends weiterhin gestillt und wenn ich ehrlich bin, genieße ich das aktuell noch sehr. ☺️🤱

It’s about having the courage to evolve as a person, and within that evolution, re-imagining that work you do so that your next career is a deeper expression of your gifts, talents, and passions. Not an old, outdated version of yourself. I won’t lie, this approach to career change is not the path of least resistance. It requires a lot more work than inputting your skills into a computer program. But the payoff? You get to not only have a career but a life of deeper purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.
