Unfortunately (for myself and myself alone), I was in a mood that morning and blueberry in my iced coffee didn’t sound like something I wanted to try. Three Ships Coffee Roasters Luis Pedro Zelaya Zamora La Folie B300 🇬🇹 Snagged this a couple weeks ago and though I didn’t find the cream coconut as described, I was still pretty pleased with the overall cup. Here are the tasting notes: Dole Pineapple Juice Orange Hard Candy Pumpernickel Black Tea Fairly bright with a deep dose orange and pineapple in the finish. I can see how this was advertised being reminiscent of a Painkiller. It certainly has the tropical fruit notes for it and I can also see how the black tea could substitute for the dark rum normally required. The pumpernickel was a note a friend and I both found with La Folie. Was it expected? Certainly not. But does it work? I had this lovely Washed Ethiopian by Three Ships Coffee Roasters earlier today. I grabbed a bag and they were using it as their single origin espresso so I snagged a macchiato as well. The tasting notes they provide are refreshingly accurate! This lovely tea-like Ethiopian is crisp, acidic, and refreshing on the palate. They had it dialed in wonderfully, showcasing this coffees citrus acidity without being underdeveloped or too astringent. I’ll be brewing this coffee via AeroPress, V60, and my own espresso once I get home. I am excited to see which brew method lets this coffee really shine. Three Ships Coffee El Bosque 🇬🇹 “The Forest” I’m no stranger to Three Ships Coffee out of Virginia Beach, VA. Over the last few years, they’ve been a go-to of mine when in the Hampton Roads area and I always leave with at least one or two offerings. Highly recommend a visit if in the area. Recently, I was fortunate enough to arrive just as El Bosque hit the shelf. Brewed via pour over, El Bosque begins with aromas of raw almonds, oak, and pastry dough. First sip brings about an immediate cordial cherry note that’s dense and ends tart and palate coating. I found this fairly akin to cherry pie filling and the accompanying pastry dough and almond flavors merit a comparison to a cherry danish. The backend is rounded out with milk chocolate and burnt brown sugar. Not finding the mascarpone but I’m not mad about it. All in all, an enjoyable and satisfying cup. A little bright and the cherry flavors really shine here. Pt. 1- Earlier this month I had the pleasure of working with @thevibecreativedistrict in providing professional headshots for 20 local artists, musicians, and content creators for Arts and Humanities month. For each session I used two prime lenses, a 42” diffused softbox, occasionally a rim light, and overall just composed with the vibrant colors and depth of the mural/alleys. Had an absolute blast of a time meeting so many warm personalities and discovering such great, meaningful work in the process. Was also really nice to work with several photographers in this batch. Every shoot is collaborative with the subject but these were extra fun and experimental. It was impossible to pick favorites, but figured I’d post two shots from each artist’s session. Can’t wait to do this again and thank you to @bigjuicyentertainment for helping facilitate these sessions!
