The Hunters Vanlife: Chasing Freedom on the Open Road In 2018, Ethan and Katelynn (@thehuntersvanlife ), fed up with the 9-to-5 grind and soaring living costs, discovered van life at a rally in Asheville, North Carolina. Enchanted by the freedom, minimalism, and self-sustainability it offered, they dove in headfirst. By January 2019, they'd sold everything to buy their first van. Fast forward four years, and their nomadic lifestyle not only fulfills their wanderlust but also provides surprising financial freedom. After living in a smaller than average home the last four and a half years, I have found immense joy in creating and only wearing clothes I love. They are comfortable, make me feel good, and elevate the start into my day. If you experience any of the signs below, it is time to simplify your wardrobe as well. 1️⃣. You have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear. 2️⃣. You have to use force to fit more clothes into your closet. Some items don’t even get a home inside the closet. 3️⃣. You d r e a d doing laundry. 4️⃣. You have an outfit in mind you want to wear, but once you walk out the door you are not sure if it was the right decision. 5️⃣. You want to wear an outfit but a key piece is in the laundry. So you choose one to “make do” but don’t really love wearing it. If you are limited on cabinet space, consider hanging your pots and pans. There are racks that can be hung from the ceiling or attached to walls like the one shown in the image. The only downside to this is that you may need to dust the pan/pot before use if it is one that is used infrequently. Those inexpensive over the door shoe organizers can be used for more than just shoes. Use them in the bathroom for toiletries. In the pantry for snacks or spices. In the coat closet for hats, gloves and scarves. In the office for pens, pencils, staples, binder clips, and scissors. In the craft room for various supplies. There’s a lot to research when you’re ready to build your Tiny Home, but it also takes research to know what to expect once your home has been parked and how to best live the tiny house lifestyle! We’re happy to share some tiny home tips that you may not have thought of yet. Leveling your Tiny Home is an essential part of a long-term tiny home setup, and depending on your soil conditions and parking site you may need to re-level it after an initial settling period. Certain appliances require a level installation, plumbing drain lines require proper slope to prevent backup and freezing, and doors may not shut or seal properly otherwise. Minimal shifting of the ground may occur from season to season so re-checking that the home remains level is an easy way to ensure your home is stable, level, and operating properly.
Tiny Homes are a relatively new concept, and the process of having a custom tiny home built is more involved than just ordering one! As you research, it’s good to collect images and links of the tiny house features that you like best and save those for later. Some folks will draw up a sketch of how they want their tiny home laid out, some leave it up to our design professionals to help them plan out their space. Research generally takes about 1-4 weeks. When you are ready to move forward, you will need to submit an application to start communicating with us about our design package and build schedule. We recommend starting a design package 9-12 months ahead of your ideal delivery dates. Currently, we are taking applications for builds starting in October of 2022.

Yesterday we filled up our newest propane tank for the first time. We went 42 days on our new 40 pound/8 gallon tank. Before the upgrade we were using the standard 20 pound/4 gallon tanks and would take them to the grocery store and swap out the tanks once emptied. Swapping out the tanks run $20-$30 about every 2 weeks. We recently found a propane fill station that has propane for $3.75 a gallon, so for $30 we can refill our 8 gallon tank! The new propane tank is quite costly (around $100) but having more propane is a must! Propane Pro Tip: Do not take the tanks and swap them out at a store or gas station. Finding a propane fill station saves so much money! We definitely are still learning but having to figure out our new life has been so much fun.
