Today is the last day of Earth Week and National Parks week. In the past 40 days we have hiked through @deathvalleynps @zionnps and @grandcanyonnps covering all types of terrain. A special thanks is in order to the people who choose to spend their lives protecting the land we love exploring. From the conservationist with @mypubliclands to the Rangers with the @nationalparkservice and all the way to the wardens with fish and game. These people are the reason we eve have places to explore. We genuinely enjoy spending most of our time outdoors which is why we are excited to tell everyone about our summer plans. Through our love for the outdoors and with the people who spend their days protecting the last of America's wilderness we have decided to alter our original plans of heading into Colorado and instead have partned with BLM to be camp hosts at a special and remote location in the PNW. In addition to being dope camp hosts, we will be working on trail management and special projects as the area we are headed to was recently hit by a wildfire. We are extremely excited to spend the next four months in the PNW as we have all kinds of plans to explore the area. We also have tons of adventures lined up with our PNW peeps and get to spend time nurturing relationships that may not always get the most of our time since staying in touch on the road can become tricky. We are looking forward to making the most out of the community while we are there. After all, while the desert has been gorgeous, it was also isolating. On to the next! National Park #44: Wind Cave A short visit that was very luckily timed (they are closing the cave for the remainder of 2024 next weekend) We took the Natural Entrance tour and loved the unique box formations which were so different than any other cave we’ve visited. Then we drove the park roads to watch bison. Plus we had a bonus stop to The Mammoth Site in Hot Springs to view the active archaeological dig of over 60 mammoths! Another three days passed already! We spent the last three days at Leasburg Dam State Park in Radium Springs NM (about 25ish minutes from Las Cruces). Small little park but the views were great! There is a trail that leads you right down to the Rio Grande which was really cool! We had planned a long hike for Saturday but the winds were 50+ mph and we decided hiking just wouldn’t be fun (or probably safe). Welcome to Miami, Bienvenidos a Week 40 😎 🦃 Our RV park is a big adjustment after being spoiled in the Keys 😆 there is a beautiful nature trail around the park though that’s been great for running and morning walks. The park is surrounded by palm tree farms and on one end there is a farm with a pregnant goat, lots of sheep and cows, and the most arrogant, flamboyant turkey we’ve ever seen (he even has a rooster side kick 🤣). 🦟 We have a new appreciation for all of the dinosaur-like lizards and chickens around the park, because we are just being eaten alive by the mosquitos and want them to do their job 🫠 💛 All week we were really just super excited for my parents to get here! 💦 We spent two days visiting Everglades National Park (our 31st as a family and first since December!). Fun Fact: the Everglades isn’t a swamp, it’s a slow moving river and the only place in the world where alligators (freshwater) and crocodiles (prefer saltwater) coexist. 🐊 Day one we did some hiking on the southern end of the park, and drove the 38 miles through a variety of ecosystems, ending in the Florida Bay and southern most point of the mainland of Florida. We got a glimpse of a manatee drinking the fresh water that flows from the park and meets the salty water of the Gulf of Mexico. No croc spotting this time! 🚤 Day two we went on an airboat tour with Everglades Safari Park and captain Bill into the National Park. We saw a group of baby alligators, about 4-5 gators, a turtle, and some birds. Definitely a memorable experience!

This is childhood. As a kid I made mud pies, climbed trees, and caught horny toads in the woods. I was a little girl who loved being outside and didn’t mind getting messy. Are our kids on their screens too much? Yes. And we are working on that. But this picture is part of the reason why we made the decision to live this lifestyle. We wanted to provide our kids with the opportunity to dig their toes in the mud, explore waterfalls, and watch the sunset on the Mississippi River. It was a bittersweet prom night last night and everyone looked absolutely fabulous. Capturing my last Prom as a mom gave me all the feelings and I am so happy that their night was full of beautiful memories as all proms should be. My 3 kids have never had to miss out on school dances and that's all because they pick up jobs wherever we land and make friends with people all over that stay in touch with them. They get to attend real dances and have beautiful dates. Using school experiences as a reason not to travel the world is an excuse that doesn't hold water for us, because we made it a point to listen to our kids once they got older and stay long, move when it was time and involve them in the travel plans. They did the research on jobs that were easy transfers and then they made friends, have girlfriends and boyfriends and now are off to college. They have not missed out on life, they were blessed to enrich their life. The second hike we did outside of Vegas was Anniversary Narrows. It was such a unique slot canyon! Totally worth the effort. When planning a trip to Custer State Park, it’s tough to know which campground to choose from, so let me give you the low down on where we stayed. Our site was #2E in the Game Lodge Campground. It was 50amp electric only, but there were water spigots throughout the park, as well as a dump station. This campground also has multiple shower houses & laundry. I’m not sure if a bad site exists in this loop. Our site was fairly level, extremely spacious and backed up to a meadow where deer were seen on the daily 😍 For $30 a night, I feel like we really scored with this place! And the journey has started! Did a short 2 hour drive to just outside Jacksonville, FL. Cary State Forest Campground is a hidden gem. 15 min off I-10 only 6 RV sites max of 40ft and all far from your neighbors. At site 1 nestled in the trees, We are 38ft and didn’t quite fit on the cement pad but it was still very level. Lots are very large and deep. W/E $21 with discount. Come prepared nothing here but trees and scrub and some hungry mosquitoes 🦟 -very quiet. The last week went fast, Derrick & the RV were in Colorado, I had another quick trip back to Kansas for Doctor visits, this time I drove. Seeing Kansas has its own special beauty.. then it snowed on me going over Loveland Pass coming home! Still quite a bit of snow on the peaks!
