Are you inspired? Am I?🤔 Sometimes we get very big egos and we think we “made it” alone. Although, I recall getting the big head a few times in my life, I know I did not succeed on my own. Throughout life, I’ve been surrounded with some amazing people from all walks of life who encouraged me to keep going and never give up. One thing, I’ve always loved doing is having conversations with people who are “invisible”. These are people we see everyday and we do not acknowledge their existence or take the time to speak with them. These individuals are those experiencing homelessness, disabled veterans, the elderly, individuals living with disabilities, and small children. My conversations with this individuals, have inspired me so much in my life that it is unbelievable. The wisdom and insight is unmeasurable. I encourage you to stop looking to people with titles and degrees for inspiration. Instead, seek people who are genuine and sincere. In the event, you can not find someone to inspire you, I will. No matter how hard things get, do not give up. I was chatting with a fellow wedding supplier a few weeks back who was feeling a bit meh about not being fully booked when other suppliers were booked out for the year and the conversation inspired me to write this. Suppliers that are fully booked for the year ahead or next year are that way because of a few reasons. Here are some of them ⬇️ 1. High demand: Popular wedding suppliers may receive a large number of booking requests, leading to limited availability. 2. Limited resources: Wedding suppliers may have a limited number of staff, equipment, or resources to cater to multiple events simultaneously. 3. Prior commitments: Suppliers may have already committed to family events or holidays on the same date, making them unavailable for bookings. 4. Quality over quantity: Some suppliers prioritize providing high-quality services to a limited number of clients rather than spreading themselves too thin. 5. Earnings: They cap weddings at a certain amount due to tax reasons. Personally for me, I will never say I am fully booked any year because even though my diary is very full for the next few years (which I’m eternally grateful for) if I can fit your mid week wedding in around my busy schedule this year (depending on location of the wedding the day before or after) I will ALWAYS do so. The way I work my diary is, yes I only have 2 Saturdays free the rest of the year and my weekends are crazy but some of them weeks I am off on holidays or have booked time off to be with my family/friends because one thing I had to learn the hard way was that family has to come first. Simples. Taking time off is so important in this game. You can be a busy fool if you want, but believe me it will take its toll on you. (Been there, wore that t shirt. I talk all the time about being in the build vs managing it. Running like crazy would have me push to drop lumber because it’s the logical critical path...... WRONG There is ZERO access to the basement unless w/ a pump.... This is a unnecessary expense... •Instead we pushed to rough-in sub-slab plumbing today. •Inspection “first” of the week (we are at the mercy of the inspector). •Plan to pour slab by wed. •lumber has been pushed to end of day wed. •frame crew starts thur. • Here’s my thought process: What’s my most aggressive approach..... Then I put this in place 2-weeks out. Then it gives me time to think out other strategies. Explore all the “what if’s”. This happens as I visit the site ea. day.
