We remember and honor the lives lost on May 14th. YWCA of Western New York 21st Century Community Learning Center After School program at @westminsterccs created a diversity poster this week expressing all the positive things that come from celebrating diversity in our communities. We also expressed pride and continuity in fighting for justice and celebration within our communities. The students wanted to also create a Black Lives Matter poster to express the pride they feel in celebrating their culture and to express the importance of it being accepted. Our students truly enjoy every piece of our community. We are all puzzle pieces, and together we make a beautiful picture. #YWCAisonamission
Two years ago today tragedy struck our community and families as we witnessed the horrific events of the Tops Mass Shooting on Jefferson Ave. Whether you were directly impacted or not, life changed. Two of the students enrolled in YWCA of WNY After School @ Cleveland Hill Elementary and Middle School were directly affected by this by this tragedy. As we remember those who lost their lives, we also wanted to do something very special for this family. We gathered together as a group to create a symbol for them to take home showing that we are are thinking of them and stand with them. Our students and teachers put all of our hand prints together to show the strength of both unity and diversity. #ywcaisonamission
