I always thought, hell yeah, give it a go. It’s something I enjoy doing so it doesn’t matter if I don’t succeed as for me it’s a distraction for being more than just a mum. Went for a run and did 5km for one of the Run NZ Runs, the ANZAC Day 5km (I’d recommend these runs! They have specific ones and other runs. They are free to enter, and if you want to get a medal for the run, it’s $25 and they send them out like a month or so after. This is the 3rd one I’ve done and need to do more!). Decided to go for a run as I’ve got a lot on my mind and really needed to clear my head. I can’t seem to kick this low mood and running one of my slowest 5kms didn’t help but I guess at least I got out, even if my joints and mood were telling me to stop. Maybe today was just an off run. Still buzzing from last weekend !! LONDON MARATHON 2024 We raised £3642 for St Catherine’s Hospice Crawley We have never run a Marathon we are not even runners lol but we were last Sunday 😊 Most of all we were really blown away by the support in the fund raising we couldn’t of done it without you all And to our friends and family showing their support by travelling up to London and Following us around the course you honestly don’t know how much that pushed us on. I think I cried every time I saw one on you 😂🫶🏼 Big thank you to Kevin who stayed with me the whole way after I damaged my knee at mile 6, at mile 10 I didn’t think I’d make it , he could of smashed his time and then ironically I beat him by second 😂😂😂🙌 If you would I told me in 2019 i would be running a Marathon I would have fell over ! Mental Health Story: I wanna take a moment to share my story to y’all. I went through dark times and experiences of depression, anxiety, overwhelm, anger issues, social exclusion, mental illness, suicidal thoughts, body image issues, fake friendships, a loss of my grandfather and heartbreak. Because of all those things, I had a mental breakdown. However, I made a good choice to get help, call 911, and get myself voluntarily admitted to a psychiatric hospital/facility. When I got help, I was nervous and a bit shy, however I understood and felt confident that I got therapy and that I have my supportive family, friends, besties, and fans by my back which made it easier to feel comfortable, safe, and confident to talk about it. When I was in the psychiatric hospital/facility, I learned and about healthy coping mechanisms, making good choices, did group and individual therapy, made friends, being positive, learning about how to deal with the dark experiences, and learning to come to terms with my grandpa’s death and past experiences. When I got out of the psychiatric hospital/facility, I picked up all those things and I started therapy. Therapy’s going positive and good, the therapist/psychiatrist is really nice, supportive, and helpful and so I feel glad to have got help. I want to say that mental health is not a joke and that getting help is nothing to be ashamed about and it’s actually a good and healthy choice to make to get help. I’m glad I went to the psychiatric hospital/facility and got help there and now is the step towards therapy. I’m also glad to have my main besties, friends, family, and fans by my side. 📈 The answer to this is clear. ​​The number of newly diagnosed cases of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is increasing worldwide. International IBS prevalence is estimated at 11.2% with variations in geographic regions ranging from 7% to 21%.⁠ ⁠ 📚 Therefore, it is essential to educate the whole population about it and to de-stigmatise it. This could sensitise people with suspicious symptoms to pay a visit to the doctor, instead of ignoring the signs. ⁠ ⁠ 🤔 But why do we see a rise ? The answer is not clear, as IBS has multifactorial causes, which are not even completely understood. ⁠ ⁠ 🍟 Some experts believe that the increase in IBS cases may be due to the poor quality of our diets nowadays. The “typical western diet” is increasingly heavily processed and unbalanced and offers less support to our gut flora, therefore contributing to IBS and other bowel conditions. ⁠ ⁠ 🛋 A sedentary lifestyle, which is also related to digestive issues, is also increasing in modern societies.⁠ 🦠 Research suggests that alterations in the gut microbiome, the community of microorganisms residing in the digestive tract, may be associated with IBS. Factors such as diet, antibiotic use, and other environmental influences can impact the composition of the gut microbiome, potentially contributing to the rise in IBS cases. 😰 Last but not least, the major contribution of stress and anxiety in the increasing prevalence of IBS cannot be overlooked. Our core beliefs are often unconscious and were formed in early childhood. Beliefs about ourselves and the world have a major influence on how we perceive opportunities and limitations in life, how we engage with others and the world. For instance, if we believe we're worthy of love and respect, we're more likely to establish healthy relationships. Conversely, if we harbour negative beliefs about ourselves, we may struggle with intimacy and connection. Some core beliefs that have been uncovered by clients in recent sessions have been: ‘I’m dumb.’ ‘I’m not good enough.’ ‘I am not loveable.’ ‘I am not allowed to fail.’ A core belief of ‘I’m dumb’ or ‘I’m not allowed to fail’ can lead to perfectionism, a constant (insatiable) desire to prove oneself and crippling anxiety. ‘I’m not good enough’ or ‘I’m not loveable’ can lead to avoidance of relationships or opportunities, or people pleasing behaviour. Awareness is the first step. Once you are aware of the beliefs driving you, we can start to look at where they come from and begin to reframe them.
