Die Goldene Gießkanne wird als Lehrpreis von der Fachschaft Medizin verliehen und an die Dozierenden vergeben, welche sich nach Meinung der Studierenden jeweils in der Klinik oder Vorklinik im Bereich Lehre besonders hervorgetan haben. Im Wintersemester 2023/24 ist Oliver Marg für sein Engagement im Blockpraktikum Chirurgie gewählt worden als Erstplatzierter im Bereich Klinik. Eine super Leistung und eine wertschätzende Anerkennung für seinen Einsatz als begeisterter Dozent! Das Blockpraktikum Chirurgie findet für alle Studierenden im 5. klinischen Semester statt und eine Woche verbringen sie davon in unserer Klinik. Das Kernelement dieser Woche ist sicherlich die kontinuierliche Betreuung der Studierenden durch eine oder einen hierfür frei gestellten Dozierenden. Seit dem Sommersemester 2022 läuft unsere Blockpraktikumswoche in bewährter Form ab: Sie startet mit einem Skills-Tag, an dem neben der Vermittlung der chirurgischen Händedesinfektion und einem Nahtkurs auch praktische Übungen zum Wundmanagement und ein Laparoskopiekurs stattfinden. Es schließen sich je zwei „Stationstage“ und zwei „OP-Tage“ an. An den „Stationstagen“ gibt es bis zum Nachmittag Unterricht am Krankenbett mit strukturierter Patientenvorstellung incl. Feedback, eine Lehrvisite, einen Sonographiekurs und die Einführung in die Arztbriefschreibung. An den „OP-Tagen“ hospitieren die Studierenden zunächst in den OP-Sälen unserer Klinik hospitieren und erhalten so einen Einblick und die Viszeral- und Thoraxchirurgie. An Hand von OP-Skizzen werden die erlebten Eingriffe anschließend in der Kleingruppe diskutiert. An drei Nachmittagen finden interaktive Seminare an Hand von realen Fällen statt. Am letzten Nachmittag stellen die Studierenden im Rahmen eines Journal Clubs in Gruppen aktuelle Publikationen vor mit anschließender Diskussion. Join us for today’s #LSSAdvisoryBoard feature with Dr. Haider! Dr. Adil H. Haider is a trauma surgeon and public health scientist. He serves as Dean of the Medical School at Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and Director of Disparities and Emerging Trauma Systems in the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is also the Deputy Editor of JAMA Surgery and holds numerous leadership positions, including President of the Association for Academic Surgery (AAS). He obtained his medical degree from Aga Khan University Medical College. He trained in public health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and received his M.P.H. in 2000. He then completed his surgical training at New York Medical College. He later joined the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where he completed his fellowships in surgical critical care and trauma and acute care surgery. Plastic surgeons Susan Mackinnon, MD, Alison Snyder-Warwick, MD, and Division Chief Justin Sacks, MD, MBA, are featured panelists, speakers, and moderators at this weekend's American Council of Educators in Plastic Surgery (ACEPS) meeting. The meeting is being hosted in downtown St. Louis. On Saturday, Dr. Mackinnon, the immediate past chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, will be providing advice for other division chiefs and chairs for developing their faculty. Additionally, she is cited as a co-author of a presentation on display for the meeting's poster competition. Dr. Snyder-Warwick will co-lead a panel that will discuss getting faculty members engaged in education. Finally, on Sunday, Dr. Sacks will moderate the "Leading the Future: Strategies for Managing an Academic Plastic Surgery Program" session designed specifically for chiefs, chairs, and program directors.
