So here’s a little bit about what Dinky Dots and Doodles is about… We are messy! We actively encourage all our little people and grown ups to fully explore our stations so if things get moved around or poured out - we’re okay with that. We all get covered in paint so come prepared. I love it when little ones approach paint fearlessly so this is inevitably messy but I clean it all up for you. We are creative! Our stations are designed to encourage creative exploration so there’s always a good mixture of colour mixing, mark making and printing. We also make a themed foot print pictures to take home. I love to think outside the box when it comes to planning our sessions so I love finding new ways to use everyday materials in creative ways, combining this with my love of art and paint gives us our unique style of messy play. We love paint! We use a lot of paint! All our classes use paint which we use in as many possible ways as we can. We pour it, splash it, mix it, stir it, dab it, swirl it and paint ourselves with it. It offers such a fabulous sensory experience for little people along with the range of materials it can be used with its perfect to explore colour and texture from a young age. We are small and friendly! Our studio space isn’t big so our group sizes are kept small. This means our classes are relaxed and friendly with lots of opportunity for grown ups to chat and play alongside their little people. This Wednesday at 1pm we have our lovely sensory story time session. This is the only clean, no mess session we run and we take advantage of our lovely lights with bubbles as well as sharing stories and sensory play with our little people. Our first week back after the Easter hols is going to be a busy one. Not only do we have our regular Dinky art and messy babies sessions but we also have these one off PAYG sessions. Messy Babies sessions - for our little non-movers… These are small, friendly and relaxed sessions with opportunities to bond with your little person as well as chat with other adults. I also regularly weigh little ones in this session. This is our own style of sensory art based play. Each week is themed and we do little keepsake footprint pictures to take home. I do advertise PAYG places if available however if you can attend a block, we have noticed the difference in play and engagement in even our tiniest ones from the beginning to the end of the block. Many of our original messy babies have grown and moved up to become confident dinky artists who are keen to explore paint, get messy and have fun. We also have some little people that have become quite focused on brush strokes and mark making with paint as they’ve moved up from these sessions which is so lovely to be a part of. This next block of sessions will be the last one in this venue before we move to our new studio. They will be running on Fridays at 11.45am. Messy play comes in so many forms and is so popular - at Dinkys we’re all about creative mess - but what does that mean? At Dinky dots we won’t be throwing spaghetti or dunking in beans but we will have paint in absolute abundance! Mixing paint and little people gets messy pretty quick, we encourage them to explore it by squirting, splashing, pouring, making patterns and seeing how it works with different materials and resources. With our tiniest of artists we use it in a sensory way. Not only does it feel great for them to touch and play in much like they would water, the colours we use and mix all add to the experience. We use materials and resources that match our theme each week and different opportunities to discover and explore. As we are approaching our second year in business, some of our long term babies have become confident, artistic and creative toddlers. I am so proud of the development so many of our little ones have shown in this time and I am so privileged to be a part of it.
