This week is Maternal Mental Health Week. Motherhood is a melting pot of joy, grief, exhaustion, adventure and challenge. It’s a tricky journey and you do not have to enjoy every aspect. We often feel surrounded by other mothers who we assume are doing better than us, enjoying it more, not struggling, generally winning at motherhood. The truth is they are probably struggling just as much as you are. We all put a brave face on, after all, woman have been raising children for centuries, you’re supposed to just suck it up right? Actually it’s ok talk about your experiences, however they look and feel. You really don’t need to struggle in silence. It’s ok to share the struggles, just as much as the wins. We are all muddling our way through, finding what works for us. It’s not just ok to reach out for help and support, it’s essential. Whether it’s from friends and family, professionals or therapy. She only went and smashed it!! Today Derry had an appointment at the hospital with a play specialist to try get a blood test. She’s got a lot of medical things going on but she TERRIFIED of all things medical. We were given a bed and I thought we were going to be there hours! It did take a lot of convincing and tears but she just decided I’m doing this. She stuck her thumb straight out and said DO IT! 💪🏻 she smashed it so proud of her! In a fight or flight moment having the courage to do the scary thing when your mind and body are telling you not to is a huge accomplishment. Go our Derry doo! All the medical things she’s had to endure this last year and she’s pushed through it all! One proud mamma today! 💖💪🏻 ALSO!! Slide across to see an orb visiting Derry! ✨ Returning to movement after a C-section ✨ Dear mama, Your baby was born through cesarean section and you are a bit worried about going back to exercise? First things first, let me reassure you: you are not in a hurry! Priritise rest and recovery from birth. It's typically safe to start low-impact exercises like swimming, pilates, yoga once you've recovered from your c-section and have no more pain. When you are ready to move, you can usually return to the mat between 8 to 12 weeks post operation. Have a chat with your GP or women's health physio, they can make sure all is fine (especially if you have doubt) and we can go from there. There are many benefits - physical and mental - of practicing yoga after a c-section. In classes, we will work in a way to will help you to heal, and relax. We take our time. 🏸Uptown sport club 🏸 @uptownsportsclub We found the coolest spot for dinner right near our hotel. Loved the style of this 1940s building that serves a Texan take on Louisiana homestyle brasserie! Even though it’s such a cool spot, they have a children’s menu! Teddy and I had burgers and they were so delicious but the best part was the Orange & Cream freeze! I ordered it for the girls but they didn’t like the unusual taste - I definitely didn’t mind drinking it for them instead 🍊🍦 Our server was also really warm and friendly 🤗 . . . .
