Aria got to experience her first concert last night! Sleep Token is an incredibly special band to me. I discovered them at the end of 2022, listened to them all throughout my pregnancy, anytime I drive in the car with Aria we listen to them and they were the band to get me through postpartum. I am so happy that I was able to enjoy this night with my family. I cried, I sang my ass off, I screamed, I danced, I headbanged. Is it hard rock/heavy metal? Yes but they are so much more. Baby’s First Mosh Pit! #BringMeTheHorizon Down Under April 10th. Jacob’s first mosh pit, first metal concert, first time seeing his Favourite Artists live and the awe, wonder, strength (kid got through a heavy metal mosh pit at only 2 rows from barrier in the centre. That is some heavy crush!) and just pure joy absolutely made the entire thing worth it. Seeing his face when @olobersykes stepped on stage to sing SALT with @d4ine (last photo in the post) was the highlight of my night to be honest - the music and community was incredible, but getting to share that with my first baby, the one who is the perfect mix of me and the Dad who chose him, was a core memory, one I’ll never lose. We’ve got a tired and blissed kiddo, who when he saw that his face made @bringmethehorizon’s story in the background of an incredibly good shot of Oli, had even more happy and bouncy moments. @bringmethehorizon - thank you for helping keep our boy sane when times have been rough, for helping parents connect with their first pancake & for bringing such an incredible show to our shores. I tried making this a reel but the conversation with the band couldn’t be heard and I want Alice to be able to hear it someday. So here it is again: You better believe I pushed the stroller right through that crowd and got my baby a spot in the very front! Alice’s first concert was nothing short of amazing. Though I did end up buying her a last minute ticket off stub hub, I didn’t scan it and I snuck her in just to see if I could…so she could have the experience of sneaking into her first concert like I did. After staring at hummingbirds, mountains and the ceiling fan for the better part of her first 5 months, this was a literal jaw dropping time as she stared at the lights, musicians, and felt the sound. I pulled a Michael Jackson and held Blanket over the railing so she officially got closer to the stage than anyone else 🤣 In case you didn’t know, I’ve always had really good luck at concerts and this time was no exception. The lead singer, Art Alexakis, started talking to me in the middle of the show! Alice is officially Everclear approved. As soon as the concert ended, Art came down off the stage, walked over to us, and gave Alice his guitar pick. He really made her first concert extra special 🥰. Aside from the baby, I had a really great time and was extra happy they played Local God, off the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack. Many times in the song he repeats, “we do what we want”. It’s my favorite part, like a daily affirmation, and a motto that has treated me well in life.
