We were away for a few days and lovely friends were here looking after farm cat Oscar and the #chickens. Mr Fox 🦊 took one of the chicken the first night. Beechenhill Farm around 1920 and now. So interesting to see some of the plants are the same. The old photo shows the edge of the new mere - a man made pond fed by rain water from the roofs to supply the fields with water. Lots of people have asked us what species of trees we have planted here at Beechenhill Farm. 🌴🌳🌲 Well, they are Giant Redwoods and Sequoias. We thought that would make an impressive impact on the Peak District landscape! Of course these magnificent trees are host to some spectacular wildlife including bald eagles, moose and flying squirrels. We are looking forward to tree-hugging and even tree climbing really soon (apparently these are very fast growing trees.) Pretty soon we will be able to create a 'drive-thru' tree!
