To outsiders, the millions sold by the major auction houses and the art in museums and galleries seem glamorous, glitzy and often mysterious. The commodity is beauty, thoughts expressed in artistic expression. But the art world also has its downsides: As qualified all-round talents, artists have to master their precarious everyday lives between age discrimination and application marathons, between bread-and-butter jobs and vocation. The tough everyday life of an artist plays no role in the glittering world of the art world. It is therefore all the more important that these experiences also find expression in the contemporary discourse as a critical statement by two young artists. Franziska Harnisch and Philipp Valenta have created a collection of scarves, baseball caps, T-shirts and more as the collaborative duo „wear&tear“, which are reflective and sometimes provocative statements to wear. The exhibition at the Städtisches Museum Wesel in the city centre is accompanied by a publication. Être atypique ce n'est pas quelque chose que l'on choisis, c'est quelque chose que l'on a en nous et qui devient de plus en plus grand au fur et à mesure qu'on accepte et qu'on grandit. Être atypique ce n'est pas être, un être unique au monde. Être atypique c'est être dénoué de jugement quand on voit que les autres s'inspirent de nous pour leur propre style. C'est ressentir de la joie quand on voit qu'on inspire les autres, pas de la rancœur. Ce que j'adore quand mon amie qui a photographié ce moment, quand elle me dit qu'elle a vu une tenue ou un make-up que j'ai fait et qu'elle m'a copié et que je vois qu'elle l'a refait ! C'est une joie de voir que j'inspire les autres, ça me comble de bonheur de savoir que je ne suis pas seul au monde, j'aime me sentir entouré de personnes aussi artiste et parfois pas du tout. Être atypique c'est être différent des autres, même de ceux qui se définissent différent mais qui ne font que rentrer dans un moule, dans des cases sociales bien prédéfinis ou toi tu n'as pas le droit d'avoir ta place parce qu'on a décidé que tu étais un peu trop différente. Je suis neuro atypique et je suis atypique et ça ne veut pas dire que si je suis différente des autres, je peux le faire subir aux autres. Cela ne me classe pas au-dessus d'un autre être humain qui serait peut-être un peu moins différent que moi, nous sommes tous sur le même pied d'égalité. Nous buvons et nous pissons la même chose. Nous sommes des êtres humains et nous avons tout misé sur nos critères de beauté, alors que cela nous nous sert absolument à rien quand il s'agira de survivre en nature. Le lion se fiche de savoir s'il a une belle crinière au moment où il attrape la gazelle. La gazelle se fiche de savoir si sa robe est suffisamment au goût du lion au moment où elle va se faire déchirer. Alors j'aurai une question à poser à toutes ces personnes qui se catégorisent comme étant différente et qui se base sur une seule et une même chose leur physique et leur apparence...
