I'M SORRY FOR WHAT WE HAVE DONE TO YOU Presenting our artwork at @teufelsberg.official. The aim of this project was to shine a spotlight on orcas, the majestic creatures also known as killer whales. Our artwork is about the issue of orcas living in captivity and the profound impact it has on their well-being. We want to highlight the sad reality: despite claims by theme parks and other facilities that hold orcas for entertainment and education, these remarkable animals often endure immense suffering in cramped enclosures. The stress of captivity can lead to self-destructive behavior. Our mission is to foster collective awareness of the harm inflicted on these intelligent beings through captivity and inspire a commitment to change. Even if you're not familiar with this topic or don’t believe it's related to you, you can help nurture awareness and concern for the ethical treatment of animals in captivity. To make a difference, you can start conversations within your circle of friends or family, ask your acquaintances what they know about the issue, or offer to share footage that unveils the harsh reality of captivity for orcas. Educate those who may be unaware or misinformed about an industry that often peddles false narratives while causing untold harm to these beautiful creatures. 이 동기화된 2채널의 영상은 여러 형태의 터널 또는 지하 통로들을 따라 흐른다. 가장 인간만이 만들어 낼 수 있는 풍경 속을 제한된 이동 속도를 따라 여행하면서 우리는 단 한번의 멈춤없이 부드럽고 효율적으로 계속해서 전진하며, 고요하면서 규칙적으로 통과하고 지나가면서 존재한다. 우리가 만든 사회는 다른 방식으로, 다른 속도로 혹은 다른 목적을 위해 설계될 수도 있었겠지만 이젠 아무도 대안책을 알지 못한다. 우리는 그저 그러한 흐름에 따라 움직일 수 밖에 없고, 그 통로에서 벗어날 수도 없다. 끝없이 이어지는 관을 철저히 비추는 조명과 끝이 보이지 않는 공간을 휘감는 메아리는 인간의 존재를 초월하는 완벽한 평화를 향해 나아간다.

Welcome to Birdhead World Again, Kyoto 2024! @birdheadworld is part of @kyotographie International Photography Festival 2024, curated by Philip Tinari with Scenography by Hiromitsu Konishi (miso). This survey is in two parts. Birdhead’s first exhibition in Kyoto, plays on the distinct character of the two spaces which make up the Kondaya Genbei, the 280-year-old manufacturer of obi sashes where the display will be shown. The Chikuin-no-Ma foyer of the main atelier, which was built between the Meiji and Taisho-era, will show Birdhead’s more traditional works, including what they termed as a new “matrix” of 124 photographs made during their recent travels in Kyoto and Tokyo. There are also six recent works from their Bigger Photo series, in which carefully assembled photographic images are silkscreened directly onto wood and fixed using a special lacquer technique. In the hybrid modern architecture of the Kurogura, Birdhead presents their irreverent idea of “Phototheism,” an imaginary religion devoted to the mystical power of photography. This denomination, and its credo, termed We Will Shoot You, underpins the collaged images, installations and video that are presented in the exhibition. Taken together, these works offer a comprehensive introduction to an artist duo who have made a unique contribution to photography and to contemporary art in China and globally. The festival runs through two more weekends until 12 May 2024.

To outsiders, the millions sold by the major auction houses and the art in museums and galleries seem glamorous, glitzy and often mysterious. The commodity is beauty, thoughts expressed in artistic expression. But the art world also has its downsides: As qualified all-round talents, artists have to master their precarious everyday lives between age discrimination and application marathons, between bread-and-butter jobs and vocation. The tough everyday life of an artist plays no role in the glittering world of the art world. It is therefore all the more important that these experiences also find expression in the contemporary discourse as a critical statement by two young artists. Franziska Harnisch and Philipp Valenta have created a collection of scarves, baseball caps, T-shirts and more as the collaborative duo „wear&tear“, which are reflective and sometimes provocative statements to wear. Notions of mortality, artistic legacy, and the economics of art practice have influenced the artists’ decision to embark on this personal deaccessioning project. The messy residue of making art can take up considerable physical and psychological space, plus precious environmental resources. Fractionate is made of plaster and hessian moulds, wax figures, fibreglass and resin castings, rubbish bags loaded with fabric and foam, metal rods, wooden offcuts, and plastic fixtures. The cluttered chaos of the exhibition space feels like a replicant toymaker’s workshop gone awry, with pale fragmented body parts scattered amongst crumbling plaster structures. This accretion of materials and equipment in an artist’s practice can become a costly burden to store and manage. How to archive, what to keep, and the thought of leaving this heavy task to someone else after you’re gone, are difficult considerations for any artist. Fractionate takes agency over the inevitable task of deaccessioning objects from an artist’s studio, transforming it into a celebratory act. Instant Travel - our first sub-enterprise was open to public during 6-21.10.2023 at @galeriawy in Lodz. Through mixed-media artworks and artefacts we transformed the gallery into a speculative space for a nostalgic travel agency of the future. 이 동기화된 2채널의 영상은 여러 형태의 터널 또는 지하 통로들을 따라 흐른다. 가장 인간만이 만들어 낼 수 있는 풍경 속을 제한된 이동 속도를 따라 여행하면서 우리는 단 한번의 멈춤없이 부드럽고 효율적으로 계속해서 전진하며, 고요하면서 규칙적으로 통과하고 지나가면서 존재한다. 우리가 만든 사회는 다른 방식으로, 다른 속도로 혹은 다른 목적을 위해 설계될 수도 있었겠지만 이젠 아무도 대안책을 알지 못한다. 우리는 그저 그러한 흐름에 따라 움직일 수 밖에 없고, 그 통로에서 벗어날 수도 없다. 끝없이 이어지는 관을 철저히 비추는 조명과 끝이 보이지 않는 공간을 휘감는 메아리는 인간의 존재를 초월하는 완벽한 평화를 향해 나아간다.
『夜行列車とモーニング』 -ウタノキ #art 会話の少ないふたりは夜行列車に乗って四国へ向かう。澄んだ朝方、駅に放り出されたふたり。街はまだ寝静まっている。そんな中、モーニング営業をしている一つの軽食屋を見つけてささやかな朝食を取る。 – 3,000字ほどの物語と共に (絵:ウタ | 短編:楠あきほ) . 『The Night Train and Breakfast 』 - utanoki. The two have a little conversation, go to Shikoku region on a night train. Crisp morning, the couple is thrown out to the station. The city is still sleeping. Join us today for the final day of the exhibition "News From Home - Kaohsiung" by Anne Fehres and Luke Conroy, happening at Pier-2 Art Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Having travelled over 300 kilometers on foot, the artist duo connected with the local community, capturing over 9000 photographs and countless hours of audio-visual material. These materials have been transformed into large-scale photomontage installations and audio-visual experiences. Each installation weaves together hundreds of digitally composed photographs, reflecting the Kaohsiung's daily existence. The vibrant color palette draws inspiration from the city's iconic temples and the neon-lit streets, while the accompanying audio-visual works offer a glimpse into the ephemeral moments of life, interwoven with the voices of local elementary school students. "News From Home - Kaohsiung" presents a collective vision of the city, celebrating the significance of mundane moments in shaping its unique identity. Supported by Stroom Den Haag SPOT grant, along with the Pier-2 Artist in Residence program at Pier-2 Art Center, this exhibition is a layered portrayal of Kaohsiung, inviting you to explore the city through the lens of the artists and your own perspectives.
