One of my favourite patterns to knit repeatedly: the Beloved Bonnet by @tincanknits. I used @mothy.and.the.squid Merino Nylon DK in Orange Sorbet. The pattern is engaging enough not to get dull, while remaining elegantly simple in its construction. It's a great one for beautiful single skeins of yarn (DK or fingering held double). Also, if you don't get exact gauge, it's very easy to modify for the fabric you want. The bonnet stays on and doesn't fall down over the eyes due to the short rows at the back of the neck. I've knit one in 100% alpaca too, and it was very warm! The last one got a lot of wear, so I am glad I made this one on the slightly larger side! Made this cute bunny (and a #belovedbonnet by @tincanknits ) for a friend's new baby. The bunny is designed by @susanbanderson and involved a stich I had never done before to make it so furry/fluffy. Two more Beloved Bonnets for two more beloved little babies! I have knitted so many of these bonnets that I have well and truly lost count 😆 it’s my go-to knitting baby for a new baby gift or even if I’m just itching to knit something but can’t decide on what. The yarn for both of these were picked up from an op-shop where someone had donated a bit chunk of their indie dyed yarn, I was very grateful to say the least. I said I had another cast on to show you, but it quickly became a finished object. This is Beloved by @tincanknits and is a cute bonnet that comes in newborn to adult sizing - I might have to knit some for my girls! This was a quick knit (though it would have been quicker had I not needed to frog 14 rows - always read the pattern carefully!). It was knit flat on a long circular, and I used non-superwash 100% DK Bluefaced Leicester in my Opal colourway.
This is the first time I’ve wound a skein of yarn in almost two years 😳 I forgot how beautiful it looks all wound up! FO: I had this King Cole bamboo/cotton mix left over and needed something to do with my hands so... I made a Beloved Bonnet by @tincanknits , not for a baby, for my grown ass self. A really quick knit, only a couple of hours really, a nice Saturday night Party project! Super easy, well written pattern that included links to blogposts that explained the trickier or more unusual parts (never made an icord before) and the result is great. I had to make it a bit bigger to fit my giant egg shaped head and I look ridiculous but it is so comfy!!!! Luckily Mr Magpie enjoys me looking like an Amish woman, I'll wear this all the time now! ⭐️Beloved Bonnet⭐️ Baby A has a collection of ill-fitting hats, so I cast one on for her in early December. Sarah requested it had ear flaps, so I went on a little search and discovered this amazing hat by @tincanknits: the #belovedbonnet I loved it. Its such an interesting construction. I completely lost my fear of German short rows (you do them so often it's 2nd nature) and practiced my icord (which I learnt making my first gnome). I used 2 x 20g of DK miniskeins from @my.yarnunique. I made the baby, not toddler size (I tested it as I went) and had about 2g of yarn spare in the end! The adorable faux leather handmade label is from @lockwoodfibres (I picked them up at Yorkshireyarnfest)

💛21.12.2023💛 Playing yarn chicken with 2 mini-skeins from @my.yarnunique. I got 2 of the same in my lucky dip, which was fortuitous for this project. I've put in a contract yarn 8 rows into the short row increases. If I run out of mini skein 1 before halfway through the hat, I can frog back to that point and add in a contrasting stripe. Hoping I'll make it though! This is the #belovedbonnet by @tincanknits (size - toddler for Baby C because I find their hats run small. She's outgrown her 'baby' sized hat already). I absolutely love the construction of this hat. The I cord and edging are clever, I love the usage of short rows for a tighter hat at the back and the pattern is easy to memorise. I'm using extra stitch markers to help me remember to change what I'm doing in the pattern '10 stitches before the end'
