My beautiful sisters Nerrida @rosebirdkennels and Kelly @kellhxo found these handknits in my late mother's wardrobe earlier this week. When I looked at them yesterday I realised that they were garments I knitted for mum over 40 years ago. The checked cardigan/jacket was my first real attempt at knitting colourway and I still recall winding the 2 colours of yarn onto small bobbins so I could change colour for each block. I remember that I originally made the jacket for myself but when I finished it, Elaine loved it so much that I gave it to her. The jumper has beautiful cabling down the sleeves. I recall how challenging it was to keep count of the stitches because the yarn (a cashmere blend I think) was quite fluffy. I love that these garments meant so much to mum that she kept them for all these years, even after she no longer wore them. They are in such good condition. Knowing mum they were only ever gently handwashed with eucalyptus wool wash. I'm hoping that @jesselainetaylor will want to add them to her collection of family handnits. I think I officially have a new favorite knitted garment! 🤩 Although this one was a pretty time-consuming knit, it turned out EXACTLY how I imagined it. The yarn is extra special because it is leftover from a project my grandma made my grandpa when they were dating- it’s probably 60+ years old at this point! 🔔New Design Release Information 🔔 We are so excited to be finally releasing our new designs! It’s been a long time coming!! - All of our new designs will be releasing 7PM AEST FRIDAY 29th MARCH 🥳 As we have been making lots of changes, a few things have changed: 1. there will be a limited number of order spots available for this coming month- this allows us to keep turnaround times as short as possible! 2. We are focusing on NEWBORN KNITS- so only Premie, Newborn & 000 sizes are available 3. We are also now only offering NEUTRAL coloured fibre options - we now have 8 colour options! (3 of these are new!) ~including organic cotton, Australian merino wool and NEW Australian Alpaca sourced from the wonderful @adagiomills ! This new release has been in the works for over 6 months, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you! It’s been a big shift for us to just focusing on neutral newborn knits but we’re very excited about these designs and all the support we’ve already received!
