The Prompt: Rubber Band. This is a Gel-Print I made at the beginning of March while playing along with the #Marchamorphosis Challenge initiated by @purple.hill.prints and @junkykid. I made a “Texture Plate” from card board, size 7,7x12,7cm (the size of this Rolodex Card) and attached three Rubber Bands. I rolled them back and forth so I could get an intriguing result after using them on the Gel-Plate and pulling the print. And I thought you might like some time to prepare (or to work ahead if you have little time 😉) therefor let me explain how you can participate. As I said earlier this week, this year I made a list of color palettes in stead of prompts. Swipe to see all of the daily palettes or comment Palette to receive a downloadable Pdf in your DMs! Follow the color palette given for each day + if you want too, you may add white but ONLY FOR THE PICK UP LAYER. Remember that you can change the colors by mixing them, which means that you could end up with more/different colors in your print than just the color combo that you started with. Note: in my list of daily palettes I am sharing the exact name of the colors that I used because some people like to know. I totally get that you probably will not have the same paints and those exact same colors and that’s fine! Just find the colors that are closest to the combos given, work with whatever you have in your stash. The effect will be the same: you will learn a lot about color and you will find (new) combinations that you love and others that you don’t. 1. You can use whatever product you want. If you want to print with (acrylic) paints, inks, pastels, metallics or a mix of everything, it doesn’t matter as long as you stick to the color palette. 2. Post a picture (or if you’re up to it a reel) of your daily prints on Instagram using the hashtags #BirgitKoopsenGelPrintingChallenge and #ColorConspiracy2024 3. It is a beautiful, SUNNY day here in The Netherlands so I can capture the Metallic shimmer from the Deep Gold Acrylic Paint I used. I made several Layers on the Gel-Plate and used two different types of BubbleWrap. I fussy-cut the Vintage Children’s Book Illustration (by Nans van Leeuwen) and made the dots on the girl’s dress stand out with a copper coloured gel-pen. The one from GelliArts (Stencils), @gelliarts and the #Marchamorphosis Challenge initiated by @purple.hill.prints and @junkykid (Plastic Wrap). I used a small Gel Plate, applied Alcohol Ink through a Stencil and put Cling Wrap on Top. Let it dry. Remove stencil and plastic. Next pull a print with a thin layer of acrylic paint. The Vintage Illustration (by Hans Borrebach) is cut out a thrift store book. Gelliprint - Collage
Hearts. Eight Days ago I “stumbled” upon the Challenge “28Hearts” initiated by Marie-Josée Brillon, @mariejoseebrillon. It is a Mixed Media Challenge throughout the Month of February and the Heart is in the spotlights. The background is a Gel-Print. I used a Stencil from Carabelle Studio, an Embossing Tool and Wax Paper to create texture. Next I ironed it onto paper. I applied acrylic paint on the gel-plate and pulled several prints. The Wax on the paper acts as a resist. The print is buffed up to get a vibrant result. Additional Art Supplies: A Handcut Vintage book Illustration (Hans Borrebach). The card size is 9,5x17cm. Unfortunately it didn't turn great so I put bird under the Plate and traced and filled bird with doodles resembling the perler beads.
