'পথের ধারে মাটি কাটছিলেন নারীরা। বলা হয়, নারী নাকি কঠিন কাজ করতে পারেন না। অথচ নারীরা যে দায়িত্ব নিতে পারেন, কোনো পুরুষ তা পারেন না।' ঢাকা থেকে হবিগঞ্জ যাওয়ার পথে কথাগুলো বলছিলেন ফজলে হাসান আবেদ, সবার প্রিয় আবেদ ভাই। নারীরা যে সমাজের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ, তা কেউ ভাবেনি বলে ১৯৭৪ সালের একটি অভিজ্ঞতার গল্প বললেন। 'দুর্ভিক্ষের সময় রৌমারীতে কাজ করতে গিয়ে দেখলাম, পরিবারের পুরুষরা এলাকা ছেড়ে চলে গেছেন। নারীরা মুমূর্ষু বাচ্চা নিয়ে বেঁচে থাকার সংগ্রাম করছেন। নিজে না খেয়ে বাচ্চাকে খাওয়াচ্ছেন। নিজেও অভুক্ত, অপুষ্টিতে জর্জরিত। কিন্তু সন্তানের খাবার থেকে নিজে একটুও খাচ্ছেন না। এর থেকে শিক্ষা পেলাম যে, নারীরা বাচ্চা ফেলে রেখে চলে যায় না। দায়িত্ব নেয়, পুরুষ দায়িত্ব নেয় না। নারী শেষ পর্যন্ত সংগ্রাম করে বিপদমুক্ত হতে চায়। আমার শিক্ষাটা হলো যে, এই নারীদের সুযোগ দিলে তারা অসাধ্য সাধন করতে পারবেন।' সাধারণত আবেদ ভাই প্রশ্ন না করলে কিছু বলেন না। প্রশ্ন করলেও বিস্তারিত বলেন না। বারবার প্রশ্ন করে উত্তর বের করতে হয়। নারীদের প্রসঙ্গে প্রশ্ন না করলেও তিনি বলে যেতে থাকলেন। 'মেয়েরা পারবে না, সমাজ প্রতি পদে পদে এই বাধা তৈরি করেছে', সে কথা বারবার বললেন। হাঁস-মুরগি ও গরুর অসুখ তখন গ্রামাঞ্চলের নিয়মিত বিষয়। হাঁস-মুরগির মতো অসুখে গরুও মারা যায়। একটি গরু মারা যাওয়া মানে কৃষকের নিঃস্ব হয়ে যাওয়া। একদল ছেলে-মেয়েকে তিন মাসের ট্রেনিং দিয়ে 'প্যারাভেটেরিনারিয়ান' তৈরি করা হলো। আবেদ ভাইয়ের ভাষায়, 'তখন বলা শুরু হলো মেয়েরা গরুর ইনজেকশন দিতে পারবে না। কাজের ক্ষেত্রে আমরা দেখলাম, ছেলেদের চেয়ে মেয়েরা ভালো করছে। তবুও "মেয়েরা পারবে না" এ কথা বলা বন্ধ হলো না। প্রথম ব্যাচের পর ছেলেদের নেওয়া বন্ধ করে দিলাম। শুধু মেয়েদেরই "প্যারাভেটেরিনারিয়ান" হিসেবে তৈরি করতে থাকলাম।' বিস্তারিতঃ https://tinyurl.com/mw6arymu #SirFazleHasanAbed #BRAC #Bangladesh #Banglanews

• Réservoirs pluviaux sur l’île de Brač • Les réservoirs d’eau, souvent entourés de pierres sèches, sont utilisés depuis des siècles pour collecter et stocker l’eau de pluie, ce qui était crucial pour la survie des habitants de l’île, en particulier pendant les périodes de sécheresse. Cette technique se retrouve sur de nombreuses îles de l’Adriatique et du bassin méditerranéen. Les réservoirs sont généralement construits sur des terrains argileux pour éviter l’infiltration de l’eau dans la roche calcaire poreuse.
