A buried arms cache was found in the Cuban embassy in the aftermath of Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada in 1983. US and allied forces landed on the tiny Caribbean island nation in late October 1983 after a violent coup had deposed and then executed Prime Minister Maurice Bishop earlier that month. Bishop was already a Marxist leader with close ties to Cuba and who himself had deposed the previous government and suspended the Grenadian constitution in 1979. But he was overthrown by even more radical anti-US Marxists. Nearly 600 US citizens on the island were believed to be in great danger from the new government, so military operations to rescue them were undertaken. Thousands of US troops descended on the island, including elements of the Army’s SFOD-D and Navy SEALS. In the ensuing fighting, 19 US troops were killed, along with 24 Cubans, and 45 Grenadian service members. All the US citizens on the island were rescued unharmed (picture 2). By October 29th the Cuban embassy was surrounded by US troops, but not entered. A staff worker there passed a note from the Cuban ambassador to US troops stating the ambassador had been recalled by his government back to Cuba. US forces eventually allowed the peaceful evacuation of diplomats from the Cuban, Libyan, North Korean, and Soviet embassies, once their passports had been examined. A few people with questionable passports or documentation were detained and interrogated, along with all Cuban and foreign fighters captured on the battlefield. After combat operations ended on November 2nd, a team of nine Army counterintelligence personnel received information that bags of cement were being carried into the building housing the Cuban embassy just before the invasion began. They accompanied local police officers into the now-abandoned facility and soon discovered a false floor inside a closet. The freshly poured cement covered this cache of pistols, revolvers, submachine guns, shotguns, AK rifles, RPG launchers, and approximately 500,000 rounds of ammunition. Initial concerns about continued guerilla warfare after the fighting ended did not come to fruition, and democratic elections were held the next year.

Nekul có nghĩa là “nhanh nhẹn” hay “lanh lẹ” trong ngôn ngữ Mapudungun của người bản địa Mapuche. Cuộc thám hiểm khám phá ra phát hiện này được thực hiện vào năm 2018. Các nhà cổ sinh vật học đã làm cho loài khủng long này được biết đến khi xuất bản một bài báo trên tạp chí nghiên cứu uy tín Cretaceous Research.

Trong chuyến thăm đầu tiên của Thủ tướng Anh Rishi Sunak tới Đức kể từ khi trở thành Thủ tướng, Thủ tướng Đức Olaf Scholz loan báo Đức và Anh đã có “những đóng góp quan trọng cho nền tảng công nghiệp và quốc phòng của châu Âu”. Nhưng khi được hỏi về việc Đức từ chối lời kêu gọi cung cấp phi đạn hành trình Taurus cho Kyiv, Thủ tướng Đức bảo vệ quyết định của mình, nói rằng không có quốc gia nào chuyển giao nhiều hệ thống phòng thủ vũ khí như Đức, nhưng đối với Taurus, quan điểm của ông sẽ không thay đổi.
