Toy Review: @disneyparks Star Wars Ahsoka Droid Factory set (C1-10P, C4-R4C, Professor Huyang, RD-3) purchased at @shopdisney I’m glad that Disney does these sets (and makes them available online), since Hasbro largely drops the ball these days when it comes to background droids (background anything, really). It’s great to get the easy redecos out to fans, and I’m always stoked to see new molds, too. Having them be Droid Factory mix-and-match is an additional bonus; you can see how much fun I had Frankensteining parts together. This set, based on the Ahsoka show, consists of the following: C1-10P (Chopper): He’s a rerelease of the single-carded Chop, with no deco changes, as far as I can tell. Good for those who missed him. Personally, I wish Disney had given this slot to a droid we didn’t have already, but whatever. We have the C1 head in orange, gray dome arms, off-white antenna, off-white C1 body, properly mis-matched legs, gray and black third wheel. C4-R4C: R4 head in maroon with white and copper accents, R2 body in same. I don’t know where this droid lives or who he works for, but he looks good. Near as I can tell, he operates some kind of personnel transport. Professor Huyang: An all-new mold! He has removable head, arms, and legs in pale, metallic greige, all compatible with the Droid Factory sockets. His backpack is not removable, as far as I know, but I wasn’t going to force things. His ancillary arms are sculpted as folded-up elements on the backpack and are not functional. He’s cool. His rubbery skirt does prevent him from sitting properly, though. RD-3: RD (or N0-AH) head in white with yellow and gray accents (no antennae in the ports, just plugs), R2 body in same, R2 legs in dark gold/gray with white feet and burnt-orange wires (they’re back!). I think this is a New Republic droid who hangs with the starfighter pilots. Toy Review: @disneyparks Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Droid Factory SK-620 purchased on eBay This droid, man. Exclusive to the Galactic Starcruiser—not just the theme park (which is pain enough), but the $3,000-$5,000 hotel experience WITHIN the theme park. And then the Starcruiser closed. I despaired of ever finding this droid under $100. But I guess they’ve been unloading the hotel merch through regular Park outlets, because prices for this guy started dropping into the reasonable range on eBay. What’s all the fuss about? It’s the standard Disney Droid Factory R2 body with a N0-AH head (making use of the antenna ports). He’s got a sharp paint job: gray-blue with white and coppery-orange trim. I mean, this is a good-looking droid, a stand-out in the crowd of astromechs, but it’s not worth a huge headache. Shoulda been available through Shop Disney. All the Hasbro R5-D4s in my collection. I didn't plan to buy the new one last year, but the $3 clearance price was too good to pass up. Of these five, the SAGA and 3-pack version are essentially the same thing, except for the grimy paint wash. They have a "bad motivator" that pops up when you turn the head. The carded TVC versions are based on the Legacy build-a-droid body. The less said about the POTF2 version, the better. The only notable feature on the most recent figure is the correct paint job on the back panels, which is lacking in all the others. It's TWO artoos! Found another non working #r2d2 art the thrift store. The first one I found had major battery corrosion inside but I was able to clean it up to work again. This second one has outside scuffs and the battery corrosion inside has one battery leaked and breaking apart. The coils were all rusted and crusty. Vinegar was not enough to clean it. I don't know the science but @armandhammer mixed in did the trick perfectly ! After wiping parts with lots of q tips I added fresh batteries and R2 came back to life. The two seemed to enjoy chatting up and sharing their adventures. I think I'm going to repaint the blue on the second R2 unit and repaint it purple 🟣. It will my own little #diy #buildadroid on a teacher's budget. 😂 I rename it R2-P9. Also, @petvethi called this afternoon saying that Mindi's exam results and doo doo sample all came out excellent! She's a very healthy 5 year old #blackcat. :) R2 was very curious to watch her eat.

Before I ever got a dremel, or rotary tool, I tried to put this Ugnaught head on this body. Except, I couldn’t get the inside of the head hollow enough to sit flush on the neck stem. I finally got around to do a better job of hollowing out the inner head. This is the POTF version of Ugnaught that is now on top of the Legacy Collection version.
