I found this really pretty mustard colored raw silk dress on the racks, with no label. I scooped it up thinking it would be a perfect 40s or 50s piece to take to the flea. However when I went to take a closer look to price it, I came across the hand written tag with Joan Fontaine’s name. I recognized her name, but not the numbers, so after a quick search I came across the 2014 @heritageauctions sale of a dress with the same hand written tag. It also stated the movie it was from, so tonight I rented MGM’s 1957 movie ‘Until They Sail’. Well, about 39 minutes into the film, I spotted the dress on Joan Fontaine!!! Best actress Oscar winner with 2 additional nominations, her custom made dress wound up at a thrift store?!? Hooray for Hollywood 😘 There are two selected stills and then the full clip for those who really want to deep dive with me. The movie also stars Jean Simmons and a young Paul Newman (for those of us who are into that sort of thing 🥵). There is no costume designer listed in the credits so I’m still playing detective on that front. Nickelodeon characters at a Disney Park, that’s what MGM was all about back in the day 🌀 If it weren’t for the Earffel Tower in the background or the Doug lunchbox I’m holding, it almost doesn’t make sense. To me, Disney-MGM Studios was a theme park that bought the rights to popular franchises and made them fit into a park of their own 🎬 You almost had to be there because if you weren’t you wouldn’t believe it. My photos have always felt dated and that’s the way I like them. 25 years ago I met Doug and Patti at 3 years old in 1999.

Vintage Card Night at VX Cards! Tonight, we have a mesmerizing 1955 Barbers Tea Ltd. Cinema & T.V. Stars card featuring Elizabeth Taylor! This gorgeous set features many stars and although the Marilyn Monroe card is the key card in the set, Taylor’s card is just so captivating. I find this card so enthralling due to the artist’s depiction of Taylor’s deep longing gaze. Likewise, it reminds me of Marc Davis’ original art design of the Tightrope Walker’s gaze in the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland/Disney World. Sharing #disneytipsandtricks every day until my next trip to Walt Disney World, Day 47!!! Happy 35th Birthday, Hollywood Studios! Opening on May 1, 1989, this park was the third park in WDW and it opened being called MGM Studios. Sprawling 135 acres, this park is themed to Golden Age of Hollywood, California, and is dedicated to the fantastic worlds of film, television, music, and theater of the time. This park was built under Disney CEO, Micheal Eisner, at the helm and with Disney Imagineer Legend, Marty Sklar, as construction developer. MGM Studios was rebranded to Hollywood Studios on January 7, 2008, under CEO Bob Iger. Many things have changed over the years at Hollywood Studios, with the biggest starting with the addition of Sunset Blvd. in 1994, then Toy Story Land opening in 2018, and Stars Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019. There were many other additions and closings that have gone in and out of this park, Hollywood Studios grew from being considered a half day park to a full day park. This post is a dedication to my childhood memories of Hollywood Studios. Indian Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular has to be one of my favorite shows in the park because of nostalgia. Indians Jones was my papa’s favorite movies and we bonded over those movies when I was at his and my nana’s house. I continue to love those movies and show in memory of him. My tip for today is to keep the nostalgia points at heart and never forget the memories you make in Disney or in any where else. Hollywood Studios is built on memories and so is the rest of Disney! As Indy would probably say ,“This place belongs in a museum.” I love the classic MGM Studios and miss so much from that time. But things change, they might not seem like the best idea at the time but it all works out in the end. 35 years is almost as old as me. I’ve been going here ever since I could remember. It will always hold a special place in my heart. I believe some great things are on the horizon. Not only for Disney’s Hollywood Studios but for the other Parks as well. It’s been crazy these past several years but I truly believe amazing things are on the way here at Walt Disney World. The other place down the road has been making some huge announcements lately and if history tell us anything, Disney Parks won’t be far behind with some BIG announcements as well. D-23 is right around the corner. I could not be more excited for the future of this company. Let’s just sit back and enjoy the ride. Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s MGM Studios as I prefer, turned 35 today. While not an opening day attraction, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the most iconic structures of Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
